To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
Obituary
Nicole Michelle Mitchell Meek, known lovingly to family and friends as Nikki and Nikster, passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 23, 2026, in Meridan, Idaho surrounded by family. She was born on December 29, 1962 to Melinda Fain and Robert Joseph Harris in Missouri, and she lived a life marked by compassion, devotion, and quiet strength.Nikki carried herself with grace and warmth, and she touched the lives of many through her kindness and steady presence. She was a recovering Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life, and she found comfort and purpose in the values she held dear. Those who knew her will remember a woman who cared deeply for others, loved children, gave generously of her time and heart, lit up every room with laughter and brought a sense of calm and reassurance wherever she went.
Nikki devoted her professional life to nursing, serving as a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics at Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno, California. Her work reflected her deep commitment to the care and well-being of others, especially children and families in need. She approached her calling with skill, patience, and compassion, and she earned the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of those she served. Nursing was more than a profession to her. It was an expression of her character and her desire to ease suffering and offer hope.
Family was central to Nikki’s life, and she treasured the people she loved most. She is survived by her husband, Brett Meek; her son, Ryan Meek; her daughter, Regan Reeder; her daughter-in-law, Molly Orr; and her son-in-law, Cole Reeder. She was a proud grandmother to Carter and Chance, and she delighted in the joy and energy they brought into her life. She is also remembered by her niece, Sarah Reagan; her sister-in-law, Terri Hylton; and her nephews, Brad Hylton, Jared Hylton, and Scott Hylton. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her love, her laughter, and the many ways she showed up for them throughout her life.
Nikki had a special appreciation for cooking and traveling, two interests that reflected both her creativity and her spirit of adventure. She enjoyed the simple pleasure of preparing meals for those around her, and she found happiness in exploring new places and making memories along the way. These interests brought her joy and gave her opportunities to connect with others in meaningful ways.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, relative, and friend. Nikki’s life was one of service, faith, and devotion, and her memory will remain a source of comfort to all who knew her. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared and the example she set will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
