Obituary

Nancy Rose Hudson Crawford passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of grace, kindness, beauty, and quiet strength. She was born on September 30, 1942, and lived a life filled with love, faith, family, and a sense of adventure.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oliver “Ollie” Crawford, her mother Ruth Hudson, brother Bobby Hudson, and stepdaughter Lynda Crawford.

Together, Nancy and Ollie shared a remarkable journey… one that blended devotion, faith, family, friendship, and a strong American patriotism with a life of aviation and service to others.

She stood faithfully at Ollie’s side through decades of Air Force and veterans’ advocacy, becoming deeply woven into the fabric of that community. Nancy cherished the Air Force family that meant so much to Ollie and was loved in return by all who served alongside them.

A woman of deep faith, Nancy served as a Deacon in her church, where her warmth and compassion touched everyone she met. She had a passion for helping those in need and gave back through her volunteer work at the Women’s Crisis Center, Meals on Wheels and the local animal shelter. Nancy also had a deep love for animals… especially her dogs, and found great joy in caring for them and serving others through acts of quiet kindness.

Always an elegant and beautiful soul, Nancy modeled throughout her professional career and later became a secretary for a prominent oil company, where her professionalism and grace led her to positions of trust and distinction, including serving at the Texas State Capitol and as personal secretary to the Governor of Texas.

Nancy also had a spirit of adventure that few might have guessed from her refined demeanor. She was honored to experience a thrilling flight in a U.S. Air Force T-38 Talon… a moment that perfectly captured her zest for life and fearless curiosity.

She and Ollie made their home in the Austin, Leander, Blanco, and San Antonio communities, where she cherished the lifelong friendships of her close friends embedded along their shared life and love story. Nancy never had biological children but shared her love for Ollie’s family deeply through decades of marriage. She loved them as her own and held a special place in her heart for Alan and his wife Sherri Crawford, Carolyn Pederson, and the late Lynda Crawford, and for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who knew her as their loving Grandmother and “Nancy Bear.”

She also held a special place in her heart for her niece's, Ashli Hudson and Elizabeth Hudson, daughters of her late brother Bobby, and Ashli’s daughter Maddy Hudson, all of whom brought Nancy great joy. Her extended family includes Lynda’s daughter, Melynda Hurst, and sons Oliver Christian Bonney (with his wife Sammie), Jeremy Pederson (with his wife Sharon), Christina McDowell (with her husband Brandon), and Alan Richard Crawford II (with his wife Cordy)… along with the next generation of great-grandchildren who filled her life with pride and laughter: Tyler, Hunter, Cole, Ben, Joe, Lyla, Ainsley, Ellison, Jaxon, Raelyn, and Jameson.

Nancy’s grace touched everyone she met, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 1:00pm at Blanco Methodist Church. 61 Pecan Street Blanco, Texas 78606.
Interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blanco Methodist Church or the Animal Defense League of Texas in her honor.

"Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Greetings to Nancy’s Family and Friends,
Nancy and I met while working in the Governor’s Office in Austin. We carpooled to the capitol and she called me “CP”. We became good friends and confidants.
Ollie and my husband Doug flew in CAF airshows and we had the occasion of seeing each other at airshows. It was always wonderful seeing them through the years.
Today I fondly remember Nancy’s kindness, poise and loving ways.
Blessings to all, comfort and peace as you remember a life well lived.
