Obituary

With deep sadness, Michael Wright, who was born on February 6th, 1963 passed away peacefully in his log cabin on May 31st, 2026 in Sandpoint Idaho. 

Michael will be remembered for his big heart, generosity, adventurous spirit and the ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face. Family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues all experienced the warmth and sincerity that made time spent with Michael meaningful.


Throughout life, Michael built lasting connections and touched many lives through simple acts of care, encouragement, and friendship. Conversations, shared moments, and everyday gestures created memories that will remain with those who had the privilege of knowing him. Wherever he went he either created a friend or said hi to an old friend.

The passing of Michael leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet the memories, lessons, and moments shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
Dad you will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. With all our heart, we love you.

I met Michael a little over a year ago and loved his heart to serve others. He was a generous man and loved to laugh. It was an honor to walk with him through the last year as a pastor and friend. He is truly missed. Photo is December when Michael refinished the floors at the church just to help.

Where do I start?...most every memory at Rio Americano has Michael Wright in it. Weather it be working at Corti Brothers throwing frieght at 4:30 am on Wednesday's, training up at Tahoe for our senior year of football, car camping in the old Willies he dtove with windshield wipers that didnt work and driving home in the snow, singing Old Blackwater by The Doobie Bros., laughing our asses off! My seciond dinners at the Wright house on La Sierra with all the brothers, or just having long conversations about our future and what we wanted to do with our lives. All so memorable . We relied on eachother and I know I could not be the man I am today without Michael's influence. I Love You Brother....until we meet again ❤️

Our dear Michael
The last time we spoke we said our final goodbyes. We tried to be strong for you, and yet in the end it was you who was strong for us. You made the final push to the top on your own with unfaltering faith, courage, and strength. You have blazed the trail, and I’m sure you marked it well for us.
There will always be a place for you at the table, and in our hearts. You have blessed our lives with your gentle spirit, and we will forever be grateful that you were our Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, and friend. We will see you out there on the trail.

I went to the 8th grade dance with Mike at Jonas Salk . I remember feeling how lucky I was to be going to the dance with the most handsome boy in school. While I don’t remember much from the dance I do remember how sweet kind and gentle Mike was ..truly a gentleman. I have thought about Mike through out the years and wished him well .. His beautiful eyes and smile have never escaped my memory.
