Michael John Peterson
July 21, 1950 – September 22, 2026

Michael John Peterson, 76, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully after facing cancer with dignity and humor on September 22nd, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital surrounded by family.

Born on July 21st, 1950 in Alexandria, MN to Lucille and John Peterson, he grew up in Sauk Rapids, MN and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1968. He went on to attend St. John’s University and served in the United States Army. Michael worked as procurement manager at Brown Tank for a number of years. 

Michael was someone who loved knowledge and that manifested through trivia, old movies and music, crossword puzzles, and sports. He was a member of multiple trivia teams and will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and deep and lasting bonds with family and friends.

Michael is survived by his sister, Susan Hough, of Rockport, MA, and his nephew and niece, Duncan and Lucinda Hough, and many other close family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Peterson, and his brother, Mark Peterson.

A celebration of life will be held at The Park Event Center in Waite Park, Minnesota on Tuesday, November 10th from 4-7pm.
