I first met Lt Col McEnroe in 2020 when he joined the MDS. His enthusiasm for the military and our Reserve mission was readily apparent. George’s leadership, clinical knowledge and skill, and unwavering positivity, strengthened and improved the squadron and Air Force. Every month, he would stop by the office to ask what he could do to further help the team and our Airmen. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to work alongside Lt Col George McEnroe.

George was in the same GST as I was. I was lucky enough to have spent time with him from Combat training skills to deployment. He always has a way of grounding us and was always able to keep us leveled when the stress gets too high. We will miss you brother.

George and I were soldiers before airmen. That was our bond from the start. He always knew what I was thinking and somehow got me to smile no matter the situation. Luckily I was able to deploy with him and he was eager to share his day to day happenings in both words and photos prior to my arrival. I’ve shared a few of the photos. I will always remember George and his family. He has definitely made me a better person and I’ll use his memory to spread joy for the rest of my life.

George was one of the most uplifting and positive energy persons I've ever been around. He truly loved his family and made the time for everyone who entered his life to feel valued and appreciated. George was my friend, and I will miss him dearly. I honestly have no memory of a bad day with him. Thank you George for blessing this world with your amazing love, laughter, and life. There are countless people in the world your beautiful soul and works of genuine humanity has touched...

Lt Col McEnroe was such a great person—someone whose presence made the world feel lighter. He had the most infectious smile, the kind that could lift your spirit without a single word. Although I didn’t have nearly enough time to truly know him, the time I did have showed me so much. He was kind, he was smart, and he was an exceptional leader who inspired others simply by being himself.

I hope that we can all carry forward the lessons he quietly taught us—to live with meaning, purpose, and genuine care for the people around us. George touched many lives, and his impact will continue to ripple far beyond his time here.

He will be deeply missed. RIP, Brother!

What I remember most about Lt Col McEnroe is that he completed the mission—no matter how large or small, whether it involved the squadron, the group, or full-scale campaigns—without hesitation or reservation. He was the consummate professional: humble, steady, and quietly confident. And beneath that professionalism was a genuinely humorous spirit that made even the toughest days feel lighter.

George, always pushed me beyond what I thought my limits were, he never gave up on me, he believed. I remember when he took the time to saw metal bunk beds with a gerber in Qatar so that my wife and I could sleep together while deployed. He was so selfless and he did what had to be done to get the mission accomplished, no matter what it was. I will forever cherish my many talks with him and his goofy sense of humor. He is missed.

LtCol Mack was one of the most genuinely cool guys I’ve ever had the honor of serving with. It was in his energy and the way he greeted everyone. I would see him at the unit, as well as at the annual veteran appreciation events at Kaiser Vallejo. His absence this year was deeply felt, and he is truly missed.
We bonded a bit on a TDY one year over music and the punk rock scene of the ’80s—more specifically, the Ramones. He told me funny stories about the challenges of growing up trying to fit in as a half-Chinese kid where he was from.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who loved and knew him best. He was a great man with outstanding character. It showed in his accomplishments and in how he treated everyone—a truly motivational leader.

LtCol McEnroe showed me how I can always be a better leader, a better nurse, and a better person. Watching him in action as an officer and as a nurse always inspired me to be look within myself and see what I could be doing to be better. I will miss his energy and his mentorship. Bless you George.

I met McEnroe in June shortly after joining the squadron. We were on nights together during an exercise. It was dark and George came into the tent outfitted with jacket, hat, gloves and a large chair. He plopped the chair down and settled in comfortably. Noticing our impressed stares he commented “I was in the army, I know how to sit and wait.” He was prepared for anything. He had a tactical vest he jokingly called his “man purse”. I can’t think of a time he didn’t stop—say hello, and ask “how are you doing”. He was genuine. He did this with everyone— checked in and made you feel like the most important person in the room. We can’t replace you but your impact will never leave us. Miss you George.

I remember Lt. Colonel McEnroe for his smile. He was always friendly and kind. What makes him stood out for me was every Christmas he would Zelle me money for my charity “Adopt the Grand-parents program “, I do yearly at the nursing homes in so cal. He would text me a message to write his cards for the multiple grandparents he would adopt along with texting him the gifts I choose . He was an extra-ordinary leader, nurse, husband, and father.
May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon it. 😇

I had the pleasure of sharing a room for almost six months with George while on deployment together. I couldn’t have asked for a more generous and accommodating roommate. He tried his best to outfit our small dorm to be a sanctuary from the desert. He ordered wall-sized scenic tapestries of the beach and the forest just to give us something to look at. He was passionate about his family (spoke often about amazing wife and her professional accomplishments, his teenage daughter and how proud he was of the choices she was making, and his younger daughter and the fun they had together), his work, his schooling, his airmen (he often talked about the trainings he conducted to build their skills), his Tesla (he loved that car), his home (he loved that house), and his role with GST (he was so determined to secure a mission while over there no matter how many attempts it took). I marveled how he could devote so much to so many things. I never questioned where he stood with anything. My last memory of him is how animated he was trying to convince those of us PT testing in October to choose the hammer run over the 1.5 mile. I will miss him but will forever be a better man for knowing him.

In June 2025, he played a vital part during a 72-hour medical exercise. As the mass casualty scenario developed, he promptly ensured our AMN stayed hydrated, knew their roles, and most importantly, motivated our medics with enthusiasm. His passion for teaching was evident, and he genuinely cared for his fellow service members. No matter what was happening, he was ALWAYS smiling, spreading positive energy to everyone nearby. I appreciate your dedication—you will be truly missed.

I have been with Ltcol McEnroe much of his time with the unit. Every time we were on TDY together we would go out and get food or drinks at a bar and grille. Usually these places were local and not chain restaurants. Every time we went to one, and they had merchandise available for sale, he would buy a shirt or hat for his kids. I always laughed at how ridiculous i thought i was to buy all those random food spots clothes in the middle of ohio, new jersey, or texas. It made me laugh and every time i would ask him about why he did that, he would just say "Hey man! doing it for the memories! and my girls will get a kick out of it!" I will miss you George, we had our arguments once in a while but i appreciate all of your time and friendship and crazy text messages throughout the years. it has been an honor.
