Obituary
M axie D. Odenwald, age 82, of Billings Oklahoma, went to be with our LORD on September 9, 2026. Max was a caring and generous servant of Jesus, whose faith and loyalty touched the lives of all who knew him.
He married his best friend and sweetheart, Merlene Livingston, on May 10, 1964, in Billings. Together, they shared and enjoyed 62 years of marriage, and a life filled with love.
Max had compassion for God’s little creatures, spending time caring for a "few" stray kittens. He loved his Savior greatly, talking with Him many times a day. He spent much time in interceding prayer for his family on bended knee while he was able. As a measure of a successful life, his life glorified God and he finished the work God gave him to do. He was a great man of faith and family.
Max is survived by his wife, Merlene; son Kevin and wife Wendy; daughter Angela and husband Paul; son Scott and wife Dottie; and three grandchildren: Thomas and wife Jaque; Joseph and wife Amanda; and Grey and fiancé Spencer.
He is also survived by four great-grandchildren which he dearly loved: Bella, Abby, Amelia, and Ben.
Known for his warm heart and steadfast nature, Max’s kindness, wisdom and generosity will be greatly missed by family, friends, and neighbors. Those fortunate enough to have known him, remember his willingness to help others and the strength of his convictions.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and through the enduring impact of his good deeds.

I'm so happy I was able to see you that very last time. I will cherish that visit until the day I see you again.
Thank you for teaching me everything from reading on that old, ugly, brown couch to driving with the loud bangs (from hitting the outside of the car door) and saying that I had just hit an invisible car. I know how hard you tried to teach me to parallel park, but I just couldn't get the hang of that... never have. I will park two blocks away before I ever parallel park.
I still have that stuffed animal puppy that you got me when you worked at North United.
Two of my favorite memories with you was when you gave us our shaving cream birthday kisses and you running down the street, no shirt, no shoes, and a lot of shaving cream. I'm sure that very first birthday at the house in Enid the neighbors wondered what the heck was going on.
The second favorite (there are actually so many) was Sunday night Disney movies with a HUGE bowl of popcorn, and your tankie tankie glass. You always had the best water or tea in there.
You were my first love and always will be. I am so lucky to have had such an amazing dad. My heart is broken and will be until we see each other again.
Thank you for showing me love, compassion, and empathy. That is something ingrained from a loving, beautiful soul like yours.
Regarding our some of our last words...I'm so sorry, I really tried my hardest.
This isn't goodbye.... this is see you later.
