Obituary
Matthew Lowry, known by his family and friends as Matt, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 24, 1979, Matt was raised in Spring Texas and spent most of his adult life in Spring and surrounding areas.
Matt was an animal lover who cared for many dogs, cats and birds throughout his life. He was a devoted dog parent to his two Boston Terriers, JoJo and Mia for many years.
Matt was a passionate sports fan who loved all things Arkansas Razorbacks. When hanging out with Matt, it was always a safe bet he would arrive in a Razorbacks shirt or hat. Matt also had a longstanding up-and-down relationship with the Houston Texans football team and a much more fruitful affinity for the Houston Astros. Matt was especially skilled at fantasy football and was known to bring his desktop computer and monitors to each draft party. While other players drafted on a simple laptop, Matt leveraged his elaborate setup to draft superior teams year after year even if the final standings didn’t always reflect that superiority.
In addition to sports, Matt was a lifelong fan of music and had a wide-ranging and eclectic selection of favored bands and artists. Although it’s always risky to name a true favorite, Matt likely would have said his most consistent love was the music of Texas singer songwriter Adam Carroll and he saw Mr. Carroll live as often as he could.
Matt was also wicked funny and was able to make people of all ages laugh long and hard. Matt’s sense of humor was uniquely his and his timing impeccable.
Matt was a loyal friend and a loving son, brother, and uncle. He’s survived by his parents, Forrest and Linda Lowry; sister, Allison Lowry; brother, sister-in-law and nephew Josh, Shannon and Owen Lowry as well as many many friends. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial reception will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Magnolia Cowboy Church: 23245 Glenmont Estates Blvd, Magnolia, TX 77355. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boston Terrier Rescue of Greater Houston, a non-profit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming Boston Terriers in Texas and surrounding states. https://houstonbostonrescue.org/
