Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Obituary
Martha Ann Riegelsperger Mascharka was born on June 14, 1948 in Hicksville, NY to Martha Jeanne (Raupp) Riegelsperger, a Registered Nurse, and Charles Bernard Riegelsperger, a supervisor of the welding shop at Grumman Aerospace and WW2 veteran.
Martha graduated from Hicksville High School in 1966, then attended the State University of New York College at Brockport in Brockport, NY, from which she graduated in 1970 with a Bachelors of Science.
Martha was an avid athlete growing up, participating in field hockey, softball, racketball, and golf, and even briefly taught Physical Education to high schoolers, but then, after having her two children, Christine Margaret in 1971, and Jeanne Elizabeth in 1976, worked as an activities director at two retirement homes in Rochester, NY.
In 1985, Martha married the love of her life, Robert Mascharka. They lived for a year in Robert’s hometown of Glen Ridge, NJ, then moved to and settled in sunny Florida. Martha worked retail for several years, then found her place as the activities director at Regency Oaks Senior Living Community where she loved working for 20+ years.
Martha had so much fun supporting her favorite pro teams whether at the field or on TV: the Kansas City Royal and Tampa Bay Rays, as well as the Tampa Bay Bucs, and she found extra joy watching her grandchildren participate in baseball and basketball, always cheering them on! One of Martha’s favorite pastimes was to go boating out in the gulf with her honey, and she never passed up an opportunity to do a little thrifting or shopping at the craft store.
After retiring, Martha found her joy in gardening, creating beautiful wreaths, and more recently creating jewelry, crystal sun catchers, ornaments, and stunning rosaries for her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Robert Mascharka, and her children: Christine Cox, Jeanne and her husband Kevin Caporaso, Paul Mascharka, and Elizabeth and her husband John Brutosky. She was a proud grandmother to Emma and her husband Ezekiel McEntire, Charles Caporaso, Jake Caporaso, Lily Caporaso, Edward Hoyt, Madeline Hoyt, Robert Mascharka III, and Victor Mascharka. Her legacy continues through her great-granddaughter, Roselie Jeanne

Love, Janet (Chris, Luke, and Joanne)

Your unconditional love for me is so treasured🩷and so missed already.
Our friday night pizza nights with you and Bob( which we promise to carry on) and our Sundays at Mass will always hold a very special place in my heart.
You knew me in my 20's and now in my 50's, I will treasure our times together and the laughs we shared and love for our families.
I will hold dear my precious sunset rosary you made for me and my sister, the love and care and creativity that went into the rosary will be remembered everytime I pray with it🙏.
Love you and your family!

I will
Probably continue to
Talk to you too much if possible. Remember I have an inside connection!

I will never forget the fun we had when you were my "boss" at Regency Oaks. Fran and I loved getting together with you and Bob, and especially having you stay with us in the Mascharka suite.
Until we meet again,
Fil and Fran

Service
We will come together to remember and pray for Martha. While we mourn the loss of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, we also aim to cherish the moments shared and the joy brought into our lives. Your presence would mean a great deal to us during this time of remembrance and reflection.
A celebration of life will follow directly after the mass.
