Mom was witty, sarcastic, compassionate, and fun. She entrusted me with her care and that came as a blessing and a curse. I took on that role which required quick decision making to get her the care she needed. I continued with her care until the very end. Mom had many medical challenges through her life and especially the last 7 years. She had a lot of ups and downs but was so resilient and persevered through them all. I think she held on for the last few years not for herself but for us. She knew we weren’t ready to let her go yet. She decided to go out on her own terms and I believe she did when she was ready. I thank God for Alicia helping through all the tough times. Aunt Suzy and Uncle Lewis, I appreciate you so much for coming and visiting her multiple times and letting her have a blast with all the fun things you planned. You guys really stepped up when she had her Mastectomy and I am so grateful for your help and allowing me respite care. I’ll never forget when my cousin Brad Thomas came to visit…she literally RAN down the hall with her walker to get to the front door. I was STUNNED 😳 and had no idea she could do that but she loved him and was so excited to see him. Brad also made it here on another trip as she was being taken to the hospital. I am so glad he & his family had that opportunity to see her one last time. Mom had a long life and she needs to rest in peace now. 🕊️ I will always remember her strength and the wild goose chases she sent me on for her particular wants for clothing and food items. She loved clothes and always wanted to refresh her wardrobe. I spent countless hours ironing her name on new clothes LOL. She loved all her family and friends and was able to text and call until the very end. She was always sending her best wishes on holidays in cards and sweet texts to everyone she knew. I will carry her strength, faith in Jesus ✝️ and her endless love ❤️ for people with me forever.

Grandma was my daily companion for over 3 years. She snuck me endless treats🦴gave me pets and was the best company. She always settled me down when the brown box men 📦 came to the door. I loved visiting her when she moved away. She had to settle me down then too because I couldn’t help but get the zoomies when I saw her. She wasn’t just family she was my friend and I loved her.💕 I know she loved me tremendously and she showed it with all those snacks!! I will miss her so much!!

Aunt Carolyn, I will always remember your sweet smile, voice, and Christ filled inspiration in the cards you sent (written in cursive of course). You brought warmth into the world, and that will stay with me forever. I hope heaven is filled with endless peace, and lots of delicious Indian food, just for you. You will be deeply missed.

Carolyn was my big sister almost 14 years older. I admired her intelligence, her knowledge of current events as well as pop culture, her love of music and dancing. She could hold a conversation with anyone, anytime. She loved children, was proud to be the mother of four daughters, always wanting harmony, and loved her many grandchildren. She knew exactly what she liked; I chuckled & struggled at times with her particular requests. Thanks to Dana for making her last seven years in Oklahoma so full of caring, didn’t hurt to have a granddaughter nurse, and to Sarah & Brad for the previous decade+ in Texas. I hope I never forget Carolyn’s wonderful memory and vivid imagination which made life fun and interesting for us all. God Bless her.

Grandma meant so much to me, and I am so deeply thankful for her life. No matter what she faced, she never lost her faith. She stayed close to God through everything, and that’s something that will always stick with me. She showed me what it looks like to be strong, faithful, and full of love even when life gets tough!! I’ll also always remember the little things that made her… her…. like how she’d sneak in a sweet treat every now and then 😂 I still remember catching her with the cookies and creme ice cream!! she was sneaky but not THAT sneaky! That’s one of my favorite memories, and it always makes me smile! I miss her so much already, but knowing she’s at peace now, with God is more than I could ever have asked for. I’m so grateful for everything she taught me and for the way she loved me!! I’ll carry her with me forever!!
