M It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Manuel Fernandez our devoted husband, loving father, adoring son, compassionate brother, and cherished uncle, on December 26, 2024, at the age of 42.
Born 11/06/1982 in Compton, CA, to Irma Berriel and Gerardo Fernandez. Manuel moved to Orem, Utah when he was 11 years old. His love for Orem/ Utah County stayed with him until his passing. He never wanted to leave his beloved “Holy Valley”. Manuel loved exploring his community riding his bike all over the city and later was known to take a ride to clear his mind through it. He played football at Mountain View High School until he graduated in 2000. Manuel loved all things sports making it easy to know which team he was rooting for whether it be BYU, USC, LA Kings, LA FC, Raiders, LA LAKERS, or his 2024 World Champions the LA DODGERS.
Manuel’s proudest moments are surrounded by his family, but nothing brought more joy to his life than the births of his three daughters, Jordyn Ann 9/3/2002, Jazmyne Kobi 6/28/2004, and Brooklyn Kamryn 9/19/2007. In 2011 he graduated from UVU with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice and Corrections.
Manuel met the love of his life, Cherish Thompson, in June 2023. From the moment they met, they became inseparable. They quickly built a life together joining forces by October 2023, getting engaged in February 2024, and getting Married on Kobe’s day 8/24/2024.
Manuel is preceded in death by brothers Jose Fernandez, Ricardo Martin Fernandez (2011) and is survived by his wife Cherish Thompson, parents Irma Berriel and Gerardo Fernandez, brother Gerardo (Adela) Fernandez, brother Angel Fernandez, sister Gloria (Michael Phillips) Fernandez, daughters Jordyn, Jazmyne (Riley Conway) Fernandez, Brooklyn, and many nieces and nephews who adore their uncle.
