Lorien B. Felton

It took some time and after careful consideration I know my mother would want me to write something and share it. She always encouraged me to write for her when she didn't have the words so I'll do that here. I don't mean any harm or hurtful intent by this but I wrote a letter from her perspective. Thank you all for your incredible contributions they definitely have provided comfort.

"Wow. I am truly touched.
I am deeply moved by the love that is being returned to me after all this time.

I want my children to know I love them greatly and will never leave them. I would love for them to settle their differences for me and be there for each other. I want them to have happy, healthy lives filled with love, family and adventure.

I wish I could've done more but I do not have any regrets because God carried me plenty of times when I could not carry myself and not only did He allow me, but He empowered me to do so much when there was not much to do with.

I give Him all the glory for giving me the strength to hold on as long as I did and I am greatly thankful for all the good times and lessons learned along the way.

I have been stressed, I have been depressed, I have been sick, and I have been betrayed but I was never defined by any of my low moments because I believed in everything that was greater.

I believed in love and light so that's what I represented and embodied the best that I could and I see now what I've done.

I have completed my mission. I have triumphed. I have made my parents proud. I made myself proud and now I can rest. I was just doing what was in my heart and if there was anything left unsaid between us just know I love everyone whether it be coworkers, friends or strangers.

God has a purpose for us all and we all deserve to love and be loved. You won't always know the significance of every moment when it is happening but you know it is significant and now I know why. It is because you, me and all of us — are significant. I never wanted anyone to feel less than that no matter how low life has brought them.

I hope I am remembered for my humanness, compassion and sensitivity because those were my greatest gifts the Lord bestowed upon me to share with the world.

My son says I'm not dead I'm retired and I hope he knows how much I appreciate him and love him. Thank you Jude and Lauren for being beautiful children and giving me endless reasons to fight every day and love in every way. It was you two that saved me when I needed saving and hope you know how special both of you are as you carry on into adulthood.

Lauren thank you so much for all the work you've done and all that you do. You were the one that stepped up and took care of me in my time of need and deserve your flowers too. I love you for being the perfectly imperfect daughter and becoming a woman that I was able to be emboldened and inspired by. Your growth and maturity throughout the years was one of my greatest blessings to witness and be a part of. Please never forget that your brother loves you and that there is nothing in this world that you cannot have or accomplish.

you were not only a great coworker but a kind and dependable woman who always gave your best. I will always remember you from the 5th floor, helping you whenever I can. Your presence made the job lighter, and your absence is deeply felt. You will truly be missed and never forgotten.

I was saddened to learn of Lorien's passing. I've known for over 25 plus years and throughout the years, she always had a great personality and a bright smile on her face. Lorien was such a kind person, I recalled days at work when she would share her meals with me. One day she wore a sweatshirt to work with a Bible verse written on it, I asked her where she got it from and she told me she would get one for me and she surely did. She will be surely missed.

Your beautiful soul will be deeply missed. 🤍

Ms. Lorien, you were the true embodiment of motherhood. You came into my life like a hurricane. Beautiful, bold, leaving an impact wherever you went. Always ready to make me laugh or show me what unyielding love looked like. Always down to ride! I’ll never forget you coming to our house to cook for me and Lauren while we were on line, because you wanted to make sure that we didn’t have to worry about eating during a stressful time. I’m so grateful to have known you. Thank you for raising Lauren, one of my best friends to be fiercely loyal and kind. Just like you.
I will always appreciate you, knowing you and your family has made me a better person. Rest in heaven Ms. Lorien. Loving you always.

When I got the news of your untimely passing, I was so sad you were my lunch buddy under the tree sitting at the bench, God had other plans for you. You told me how tired you were and so ready for your retirement. Take your rest now Queen you will be truly missed. Ofc. S. Richardson (PTDC)

My condolences to the family. The pictures are a reflection of how I remember her. Beautiful and smiling. Lorien her siblings and parents were neighbors to my parents and I for many many years. She always had a beautiful soul and spirit. The family will continue to be in our prayers along with years of very fond memories. We love you dearly. Take your rest.

Lorien and I met in 1978 at Glendale Missionary Baptist Church. Yes, she loved the LORD and her family.

I met Lorien in 2000, when I started in the property room at the MDCR. Over the years we still kept in contact even though we both left the property room, we ended up working years later at TGK, until she went to MWDC, she called me for advise when they were giving her a hard time, and she always asked about my kids and she was always proud to tell me how Lauren and Drew were doing. She will be truly missed l.

Sending my deepest condolences.. I met Lorien when Jude and Lauren went to the daycare that I was employed at many years ago, Carol Center. Lorien sent Lauren with me to Take Your Child to Work Day at my job as a teacher. We spoke frequently and I know her faith in God carried her. We attended Woman Thou Art Loosed the last year of it and had a great time. She was fun and bubbly and I will miss my friend. I spoke with her while she was in the hospital briefly and she said just pray for me and I did and I was hoping and praying that she recovered… miss you Lorien. Sending prayers to Lauren, Jude, and the entire family.

This Ofc.D. Campbell you will be missed Ms.Felton. You always wanted me to escort you on the 5th floor. I was super sad when I heard you passed. We was just talking about putting your health first, and taking the more natural route. RIH MOMMA.♥️♥️♥️♥️

I remember Ms. Lorien for her sense of humor and her sweet, sweet heart. She had so much love to give, and she gave it freely. I am deeply grateful for the moments we shared — cheering on Lauren together at her probate, worshiping the Lord side by side at Woman Evolve, and having conversations rooted in God’s love and grace. Those conversations are ones I will carry with me always.

Thank you for being a steady voice of reason, wisdom, and warmth. Your presence mattered, and your love will continue to ripple through all of us who were blessed to know you. You will forever be missed.
