To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
Obituary
Lisa Kay Fredricks, 56, of Comstock Park passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Lisa was a beautiful person inside and out, who lit up every room she walked into and was inevitably the center of attention. She loved life deeply and lived it to the fullest. In every aspect of life she carried herself with strength, grace, and joy. She loved her people wholeheartedly, making it effortless for them to love her back.
Lisa had many passions in life and thrived in creating community through those passions. She loved the summer and spending time boating with family and friends. Lisa and Andy hosted many fun days and nights filled with laughs, tubing, drinks, and partying out on the family boat, ‘Rita’. Her love for animals led to her rescuing a chihuahua, Mimi, which inspired her to create The Michigan Chihuahua Lovers group, which has brought thousands of people together to form friendships and share their love of dogs. Lisa also had an immense love for music and shared that love with the people in her life by attending concerts, shows, and live music nights at local restaurants and bars with friends and family. Many people will remember her as the proprietor of Rosa’s Closet in East Grand Rapids where she was able to showcase her love of fashion and helping others feel beautiful.
Before passing, Lisa expressed that she was happy with the life she had, she lived it to the fullest, and she had no regrets. She was glad that she was able to be part of so many milestones in her daughters’ lives, and witnessing the birth of her first grandchild. Her warmth, spirit, and the love she gave will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 16 years, Andy Fredricks; children, Lexi (Trevor) Hill, Rachel Fredricks, and Sara Fredricks; granddaughter Lily Hill; siblings Laurie (Mark) Tamminga, and Robert Mulder Jr.; and mother Viola Mulder.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert Mulder.
Because of her battle with cancer, Lisa has opted for anatomical donation to the University of Michigan Medical Center.
A celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Lisa asked that donations be made to Hearts of Hope, Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance, or the Trevor Project. We encourage you to share your memories and photos of Lisa.

Such a loss for her family and all of us here on the site she began. Lisa's love for animals will continue in all of us. She was a phenomenal person and will never be forgotten. I send my sincere condolences to her family. Lisa will always be remembered as such a beautiful lady, inside and out.

I will never forget being a little girl and watching my Auntie pull up in her white, topless Jeep Wrangler. I wanted to be her when I grew up. She would pick my Mom and I up and the four of us would just cruise around laughing, blasting loud music and heckling people in other cars. Just the four of us crazy blondes and Lisa was like the ring leader. Normally these trips would be spontaneous but we would often end up up at Lake Michigan. The place that made her so happy and filled with peace.
Fast forward to being an adult and some of my favorite memories are also out on the big lake with Lisa and Andy. Any time she would invite my husband and I out we would cancel plans to make it happen. She was worth it. Spending time with Auntie was good for the soul and I will never take it for granted. I will miss your infectious laugh, incredibly bright presence, beautiful blue eyes and endless love and hugs. I will keep living for you and do my best to make you proud. Miss you so much already.

My prayers go to her family, I can only imagine these past few years have been hard and I am so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely, Kj
