Lindsey Stoughton Braun

May the land bloom in your steps.
Obituary
Lindsey Stoughton Braun passed away at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on January 11, 2026.
She was born on April 23, 1997, at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY, to Michaele and Scott Stoughton. Always playful and curious, she spent much of her childhood climbing things she wasn’t supposed to, playing all kinds of games, and performing constantly, whether singing, dancing, or both. She loved video games from a young age and would often enjoy playing alongside her older sister, Alexis (Lexi).
Lindsey’s music career flourished in her teenage years as she taught herself guitar, took voice lessons, and began performing any and everywhere she could. Between open mic nights, karaoke competitions, and recording sessions, she tugged at many heartstrings with the incredible raw emotion she imbued in her performances.
Lindsey met her husband, Aiden, in February of 2020, and they decided to quarantine together the following month. Both agreed it was the best decision they could have made. They weathered many storms during their years together, and Lindsey’s cancer diagnosis was no different. The two were true soulmates, both bound by fate and forever connected through the love and care they poured into their relationship.
Lindsey studied video game programming in college at SNHU, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Game Programming and Development in June 2023. She worked on countless projects with peers, did some freelance website design, and took a few other jobs before settling at SUNY Broome in IT last May. She truly enjoyed working there and especially loved her coworkers whose support gave her inspiration and comfort.
A celebration of life will be held on March 21, 2026, at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Young Tongues Global, a charity dedicated to supporting young people with tongue cancer. The group and its members were incredibly helpful to Lindsey following her cancer diagnosis.
Lindsey will live on in all those who were lucky enough to meet her and be touched by her radiance. Let us follow her example and do our best to be a little more patient, understanding, and compassionate. Let us also continue to play and have fun, just like she would want us to.
Donations

I loved going out to places and running into Lindsey and Aiden. I loved board games, video games, and more with them.
While the outcome of who won might not have always been consistent, you could always guarantee one thing. Every time like clockwork you would see Lindsey's smile light up the room or hear her laugh bring on a smile all your own.
I am truly devastated to hear of her passing. My heart breaks for all that knew her closer and loved her. It's lovely to see the memories you all carry have that same energy her smile carried :)
