Obituary

Linda Susan Ross (nee McCulloch), known lovingly as Susie and Poso, passed away peacefully at home on August 18th, 2024 in St. Catharines, Ontario, at the age of 74 after living with ALS for over a year.

She leaves behind loving devoted husband Brian Ross; daughters Carrie (Darryl) Teutenberg, Victoria Ross, and Tina (Uwe Maihöfer) Ross; grandchildren Emma and Andrew Teutenberg, Alex Thomas, and granddog Penny; favorite and only sister Debby Jacobs; brother Bobby McCulloch; prayer sister-in-law Lucie McCulloch; brother and sister-in-law Don and Mary Jo Ross; sister-in-law Barb Dummit; nieces and nephews David, Melissa, Stephen (Natalie), Ben (Tammey), Joette, Mathew (Sidney), Max, and Ashley; good friends Anne and Ray Stoesz; church family; fun-loving trailer family; and her Port Girls. Linda was predeceased by infant child Baby Cindy, brother David McCulloch, brother-in-law Bill Dummit, nephew Neil McCulloch, Rudy Drisdelle, mother Pearl Drisdelle, brother Rick McCulloch, and brother-in-law Bill Jacobs.

Throughout her illness, Linda was surrounded by many loving care givers that she wanted to mention individually: Stephanie, Faith, Diana, Hilda, Tisha, Brandy, Colleen, Juliana, Amanda, Tracy, Ekaterina, Christine, Ma Kaye, Sue, Beverly, Valerie, Arjean, and Anna from Heidehoff Home Support, and Kevin, Phillip, and Jenneh from Stay at Home Nursing Care. Incredible support was also received from Melissa, ALS society; Julie, Respiration Therapist; Wendi, Occupational Therapist; Dani, Palliative Care Nurse; Rachel, Palliative Nurse Practitioner; Christine and Shannon, coordinators at Ontario Health at Home; Barb and Dr Turnbull, ALS clinic at McMaster; and the AAC team, Hotel Dieu Shaver.

Linda was born in Toronto and moved to St. Catharines as a child. She met her high school sweetheart, Brian, at 16 in Port Dalhousie. Brian was the love of her life and devoted primary caregiver, never leaving her side. They were happily married for 53 years and inseparable from the moment they met 58 years ago.

Linda worked on and off throughout her life and was a devoted mother and homemaker. She worked for many years at the fry truck (Michelle’s Fries). Her lifelong passion was knitting, and gifting sweaters, stuffed animals, and hats was her way of showing love and friendship. Everyone in her life has one (or more) of these treasured keepsakes knitted “With Love by Linda”. In addition, she worked for several years at the yarn store (Knitter’s Paradise) where she was able to share her passion by teaching and inspiring the next generation of knitters. Throughout her life Linda always loved being up north, especially at Lake St. Peter, sitting around the campfire, cruising in their boat the Little Turtle, and fishing with Brian.

Linda was a longstanding member of Bethany Community Church, and Linda would like to remind everyone in her own words with all her heart that “the best is yet to come.”

A private graveside ceremony will be held for the family on Saturday, August 24th, at Pleasantview Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place on September 15th at 2pm at Bethany Community Church, 1388 Third Street Louth St. Catharines.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada at the Linda Ross Tribute Page

The thing I cherish most about mom is talking. We talked and talked. On the phone, in person, wherever I was in the world I could call and talk to mom. And when Uwe came to Canada we would sit in the living room with Mom and Dad and "solve the world's problems" as she liked to say! We played games like aggravation and sat around the bonfire up north. So many great memories!

There are many people we meet in our lives but only a few will make a lasting impression on our minds and hearts. Susie was one of those people. Susie was a wonderful person in all ways that matter. From the delightful conversations to her up beat happiness for life. I have many memories of our Swiss Chalet chats and looked forward to wait on her and Brian when they came to dine. Don and myself were truly blessed to have known her 🙏 ❤️

We feel so Blessed to have known such a talented, comical and kind lady. Only Linda could watch TV while knitting and keeping up a conversation or two all at the same time. Her unwavering Faith in her Creator and fearce Love for her family were an inspiration. She will be missed by our family greatly.

On behalf of Barb and myself, I wanted to pass along condolences to Darryl Teutenberg and all family members on the passing of Darryl's mother in law. These are difficult times but I find that leaning on loved ones and sharing memories is the best way through. All the best.

It's with heavy hearts that we weep for the lost of a Beautiful Soul, Susie. Susie was kind and caring and always open to have conversation with you. She made you feel loved and that someone always cared. She cared. Susie would share her stories along with her loving sister, Debby, about growing up and all the fun memories they made together. Her Love for Brian and her Family was what filled her heart. She adored them all. We adored her. Bonfires will never be the same. We love you Susie. Always in our Hearts.💙

From pool parties at their house and ours, when the girls were small, to summers at the cottage at Lake St. Peter. That was just the beginning, of a lifetime of fun! On to the summers at the trailer with friends, Susie loved her bonfires morning noon and nite! The many years we shared in Florida, at a great place the Dolphin Inn. She kinda followed me! This doesn’t even include all the birthdays Christmas, and every occasion for an excuse to get together! The memories are with me forever. I love you my sister, and will never forget our life together.💕💕💕🙏

Our sincere condolences Brian, Carrie, Vicki, Tina and their extended families. Susie was such a remarkable person. She was like a breath of fresh air, always upbeat, straight forward and always so entertaining.
We admired her unwavering dedication to her church and religion.
Susie will certainly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Our corn feeds at the lake will be one of many treasured memories of times spent together. Heaven has just received an angel. May she rest in peace.
