Obituary

Linda Lowry, 74, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 5, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Linda lived a life defined by her deep faith in Jesus Christ and her unwavering love for her family.

Linda was born on March 8, 1952, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Wally and Lillian Easterling, the second of three children, with an older brother, Larry, and a younger brother, Bill. She grew up attending Gaines Street Baptist Church and Olivet Baptist Church, where she came to know and love Jesus at a young age - a love that would shape the rest of her life.

On March 16, 1974, Linda married Forrest Lowry, and the two began a lifelong partnership grounded in faith and devotion. Together they raised three children: Josh, born in 1976; Matthew, born in 1979; and Allison, born in 1981.

For most of her adult life, Linda faithfully served alongside Forrest as a pastor's wife, ministering to congregations at Brookwood Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas; Calvary Baptist Church in Bristol, Tennessee; Exchange Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; First Baptist Church in Miami, Oklahoma; Spring Baptist Church in Spring, Texas; White Oak Baptist Church in Houston, Texas; and First Baptist Church in Lexington, Texas. Although she made lifelong memories with each of these congregations, Spring Baptist Church was where she spent the longest chapter of her life and raised her three children.

Linda had a beautiful singing voice and found deep joy in singing in the church choir every Sunday. She was known for being an exceptional listener with a truly empathetic spirit, which enabled her to minister to countless people throughout her life. Easy to talk to and warm in every way, Linda was a light to all who knew her.

Above all, Linda cherished her family - her husband, her children, her parents, her brothers, and in her later years, her grandson Owen, who brought her immense joy. She never tired of hearing the latest news about him, and he held a special place in her heart.

In her later years, Linda faced numerous health challenges, made all the more difficult by the untimely deaths of her beloved son and daughter Matthew and Allison. Though her family is heartbroken by her passing, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace with Jesus, reunited with those she loved so much. Linda is survived by her husband, Forrest; her son, Josh; her daughter-in-law, Shannon, her grandson Owen and her brother, Bill Easterling. She was loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed.

Linda was the next best thing to a blood sister I never had. We shared so many childhood memories, growing up as teenagers memories, college memories, and family memories that go on and on. As I looked back and start walking down memory lane it just doesn’t seem possible that I’ll never hear from her on earth again but I’m comfortable in the promise that we will be united again. She left us with so much love and support that we will never be able to forget what she meant to us. I hold up Bill In my prayers because I know how he’s probably dealing with this, don’t feel alone Bill, keep her memory alive. Josh, you also are in my prayers and I pray that you’ll be able to hold on to that motherly love you always knew. As, a close and dear friend, I’m clinging to every memory we made together as friends and will always remember Linda as the best little sister I never had. I love you Linda and will always hold you close in my heart. ‘TIL we meet again…

I don’t think Linda ever realized how much I loved her and looked up to her. When I met her in 1986, She was “the Pastors wife who had an incredible voice, like an angel from heaven,” but she quickly became my best friend, a spiritual mentor and a beloved sister in Christ. Some of my greatest memories were the one-on-one times we had together in Israel, in Arizona, in Washington DC, and special times at women retreats. We included our husbands for movie and dinner nights, and I always cherished every single time we were together. There was never a doubt in anyone’s mind how much she loved Forrest and her children. She had her priorities right and I learned much from her example. We were separated by miles for many years and then health issues affected each of us, which also kept us apart, but Bob and I never stopped loving Forrest and Linda, Josh, Matt and Allison. Our hearts are broken that Linda is no longer with us, but we know she is rejoicing with Jesus, Matthew, Allison and her parents, and will be with them always. We look forward to that eternal reunion so that our friendships can pick up where we left off! Forrest and Josh, you have our love and prayers and we are here for you.

Dear Forrest and Josh, I count Linda as a great blessing in my life. I loved hearing her sing about the Lord. Her beautiful face and smile in the choir loft lit up the whole auditorium! She was a cheerful servant and a wonderful friend. The time you served as pastor - with your sweet wife alongside - was a special time in my life. I will faithfully pray for your family.

Dear Forrest, I am so very sorry to hear of Linda’s passing but rejoice in knowing she is with the Lord and reunited with her two precious children again. My memory of Linda at Spring Baptist church is, she was my first Sunday school teacher. She had an all ladies class on Sunday mornings and she was so kind, sweet and encouraging to me. Dear Forrest, Linda was all that you said and more! Bambi and I were talking about what a wonderful class we had with her teaching. She was such a great teacher, but more than that she cared for people with her whole heart! I remember so many times she would take my hand and look into my eyes like nobody else was in the room and ask me how I was doing and I knew that she really did care and showed concern for me! You and Linda or some of the special people that got me through some really hard days many years ago, and I’ll never forget her and you for your love and compassion shown to me and my kids! Dear Forest and family, I was so saddened to hear of Linda’s passing. She was a lovely person and your description of her was perfect. We have fond memories of her at Exchange Avenue and enjoyed her singing. I remember once when she was singing and the words did not come to her. She said, “I got caught up in the emotion of the words and it stopped me”. We should all get caught up in the emotion of God’s words when he speaks to us through song or scripture. Her sweet spirit made an impact on all of us. We will certainly pray for you and your family as you grieve her loss and rejoice in her life.
