Obituary

Linda Anne Jones, 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 26, 2026, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Born on September 27, 1949, Linda lived a life marked by faith, courage, love, and service to others. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to teaching, investing in the lives of her children and countless students with patience, wisdom, encouragement, creativity, and joy.

Linda shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Douglas William Jones. Together they built a home centered on faith, family, and unconditional love, creating cherished memories and traditions that will continue to be cherished for generations.

Above all else, Linda loved Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided the way she loved, served, and cared for those around her. She faced life's joys, challenges and hardships with quiet strength, tenacity, grace, and the confidence that her hope was found in Christ alone. Even as she courageously battled ALS, she continued to reflect Christ's love through her perseverance, positive attitude, and unwavering trust and faith in God. While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the promise that she is now in the presence of the Savior she faithfully loved and served. Linda's legacy is one of steadfast faith, sacrificial love, and a life devoted to serving both God and others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former students, and all who were blessed to know her, but her influence will continue through the lives she touched.

Linda is survived by her four children, Matthew, Karen, Andrew, and Aaron; her ten grandchildren; and her sister, Peggy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas William Jones.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the home caregivers, doctors, nurses, and staff at Emory Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during Linda's battle with ALS and throughout her final months and days.

I’ve only known Doug and Linda for a couple of years through Pinecrest Baptist. We visited both of them in their home from time to time and found we had a lot in common in the field of education. Linda was the sweetest friend and had such a testimony for the Lord despite her physical difficulties! She taught me a lot about contentment and having the joy of the Lord! We’re so thankful she has been reunited with Doug, has been made whole and that both are enjoying the splendors of Heaven!

Mrs. Jones made a significant impact on my family. We got to know & love Mrs. Jones when my sisters & I attended Haven Christian Academy in the early 90’s in Winter Haven, FL. She was my youngest sister’s 2nd grade teacher. My earliest (& ongoing) impression of Mrs. Jones was that she knew how to run a classroom! She knew how to manage rambunctious, energetic & sometimes wild kids!
She was always poised & in control. I truly admired her. Mrs. Jones was one of my inspirations in pursuing a career as an educator. I will always remember how she demonstrated dedication & excellence each day. It motivated me to live out those qualities in my professional & spiritual life.
She shined the light Christ & led a life of honor & dedication to the Lord. The Cruz family will miss her!

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of your beloved mom. Linda was a dear friend, a wonderful coworker, and a faithful woman of God.

I will always cherish the special memories we shared—teaching together, talking about school, life, and Jesus, all while enjoying a good cup of her favorite tea. Her kindness, friendship, and gentle spirit were a blessing to everyone who knew her.

I'm so sorry our family has lost another special family member. I'm so happy I was able to see her at Uncle Dougs Memorial service. It had been 20 years since I saw her last.we were able to stay in touch on Facebook over the last few years. I will always have fond memories of her and love her. I am so thankful for Mrs. Jones. I was in her 3rd grade class at Calvary Christian in Chattanooga. The year before had been very difficult for us. We lost my brother to a blood disease and had moved across the country for my dad to take a pastorate in the area. Her love and care for me during that year was such a blessing. She was easily one of my favorite teachers.
