Lemuel Moore

Through the dark skies and rain through sickness and pain, I will not complain. He knows the path I take. I will not complain. He knows the path He leadeth me it may be through the sunshine. - Rev. James Cleveland
Obituary
Lemuel Moore was born on July 3, 1959, in Philadelphia, PA, to Juanita and Eddie Moore. He was raised in the close-knit community of Vauxhall, NJ, later moving to Westfield, NJ, and eventually settling in Maryland, where he spent his later years.
From an early age, Lemuel had a deep love for cars. He especially enjoyed drag racing and could often be found watching races at Englishtown, NJ. When one of his engines gave out, Lemuel and his brothers wasted no time in getting the car back on the road—sourcing local parts and moving with the speed and precision of a NASCAR pit crew.
Lemuel devoted his professional life to the field of loss prevention, working for several major companies including Supermarkets General, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers, and Sears Holdings Corporation. His work ethic and demeanor earned him the respect of his colleagues and those he mentored.
A true fan of gospel music, especially as it played on AM radio, Lemuel found joy and comfort in its harmonies.
Aside from being a proud Dad of Andre and Aaron, one of Lemuel’s great passions was football—he was a proud and devoted Chicago Bears fan. Through every season, win or lose, he proudly sported his Bears gear and rarely missed watching a game.
Lemuel was also a dedicated donor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, believing strongly in the mission of helping children in need. He was a history buff who could spend hours reading about major world events and unsung heroes of the past. This curiosity made him a lifelong learner.
He never met a stranger and was known for his kindness and easygoing nature. Lemuel’s popularity in the community reflected this welcoming presence.
Lemuel is preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Eddie Moore, and his brothers, Eddie and Garry (Lamont) Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He will be cremated in a private ceremony.
