A loving husband, father, grandfather, and military veteran, Larry’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and service to his country.
Born and raised in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Larry went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War. During this time, he made lifelong friends and built a legacy of strength and courage. His time in the military was a defining chapter of his life, but it was his role as a father and grandfather that truly shaped the person he was.
Larry was an avid hunter, fisherman and a lifelong patriot whose heart was as big as his smile. His love for his family knew no bounds. He was a devoted husband to Phyllis Hansen, who shared his life and love for many years. Together, they shared six children: Larry Swanbeck Jr (Violet), David Swanbeck (Nicole), Jeremy Swanbeck, Meghan Lightfoot (Josh), Dennis Breyer (Lindsey), Domenick Scardina. Larry took great pride in watching his children grow and always supported them with unwavering love and guidance.
In addition to his children, Larry was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, all of whom adored him. His gentle spirit and kind heart left a lasting impact on them, and he will be remembered for the love he poured into their lives.
Larry was known for his sweet nature, humble spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. He never sought the spotlight but was always there to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer a word of wisdom. His integrity, compassion, generosity and love for his country made him a beloved figure in the lives of all who knew him.
Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private family and close friends service will be held to honor Larry’s life and legacy.
