Obituary
Larry “Swede” Fagerquist departed this earthly home on July 16, 2026.
Larry was born on May 24, 1942, grew-up and worked in Dighton, Kansas, before spending his retirement years in Queen Valley, Arizona. For most of his life, Larry had a stoic personality and was never one to become too overexcited in the moment. Rather he had a more reflective response to the “ups and downs” of life. He learned to take each day one day at a time to enjoy life’s moments as they came, and not obsess excessively on the challenges, knowing that troubles would pass and fade with time.
He created many great memories with his family through his work on the farm, especially bringing in the Kansas wheat harvest as a family event. He was well known at the morning coffee shop (where all the farmers gather early); local town events cheering on the school sports teams; celebrating country life at the county fair; and serving his community on the library board and as a church deacon.
Later, his enjoyment for golf and outdoor adventures grew while living in Queen Valley, Arizona. Local golf tournaments, Jeep trail adventures, and finding local Arizona entertainment and restaurants were well earned enjoyments in retirement. For a while, he and Mary enjoyed “cooling off” during the Summer in the mountain valleys of Wyoming near the town of Thayne. Driving trips into the surrounding mountain scenery; catching the Cleveland Indians/Guardians games on TV; and of course, more golf, were the order of the day.
His other interests included avid reading, following his favorite sports teams (almost too many to list), and listening to the retelling of adventures of his grandkids.
Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Gertrude, and his brother Max.
Larry is survived by his wife, Mary; son Charlie (Bethanie) Fagerquist, daughter Jodi (Jeff) Francis; and three grandchildren, Jane, Jack, and Annika. He is also survived by his sister Millie Thomas.

I had the privilege of day caring his two children for one year, and they were very special as were Larry and Mary. Peace be with you and I'm sure his mom, dad and brother Max had a big smile when he crossed the river to be with them. God Bless.
