Larry Byram

Obituary
We are sad to share with you the news that Larry Byram passed away peacefully in his home on December 21, 2025, of aggressive liver cancer. Larry passed four days after his diagnosis and requested that news of his cancer and passing be delayed at least 3 days after his death to minimize distractions as he left his body. We waited until after Christmas to share this news.
Larry died at dawn on the Winter Solstice, when the light starts to expand every day. This seems like a fitting passage for someone whose life was dedicated to expanding Light—quietly, steadily, and without pretense—in everyone he met.
Larry affirmed the Life, Light, and Love in every person he encountered, the essence of our humanity. For him, love wasn’t something special to be bestowed upon someone. Love was the recognition in others of the love we all share – not an idealized love but one of presence, joy, strength, vulnerability, alignment, purpose, and commitment. He affirmed in each of us our Beauty, Truth, and Goodness.
When asked about his biography, Larry talked about the importance of his life purpose, his Authentic Life Expression (ALE). Everything else, he said, were only personality details. The trajectory of his work began when he was 18 years old and started to read the Alice Bailey books, which he read three times through by the time he was 25. His collegiate studies were focused on making organizations more efficient and effective. In doing so, he discovered that he first had to help people align themselves so they could build better organizations. Thus, with the writings of Alice Bailey as a foundation, along with decades of observation, practice, and refinement, the Institute for Spiritual Partnership, Alignment Technologies, and Higher Alignment were developed.
Larry developed his own program, called Higher Alignment, to identify and understand the creative energies of people and their interactions with each other. He was a natural teacher, a prolific writer, an individual and relationship coach, and a spiritual advisor. Larry lived in service to his Authentic Life Expression, as well as his personal growth. His choices, time, and resources were dedicated to the expansion of his work. His deep commitment serves as a model of what it means to live in alignment with one’s purpose.
So many people have assisted Larry in developing and expanding this work, and he so appreciated everyone who stepped in to share this journey. Like many others, I met Larry when I went to Higher Alignment for a Profile Party. Higher Alignment and Larry were unlike anything I had ever experienced, and I knew that night this was a place where I belong. Knowing and studying with Larry has changed my life immeasurably.
After years of working with Larry and supporting Higher Alignment, I will be leading our Higher Alignment team to preserve his voice, make his work accessible, and ensure it continues to serve those who seek it out. We will continue to post Larry’s writings on Substack. Recordings of his classes are available for purchase on Thinkific, our new educational platform. We are also developing a new Higher Alignment website where you will be able to find extensive information about the 15 Compatibility Factors, Motives, Attractions, Relationship Skills, and Authentic Life Expression. Other possible projects down the road may include an AI Chat Box and an online Creative Assessment process. (We also dream of having AI organize and catalogue the 10 terabytes of Larry’s writings. Ha!).
Through his work, Larry touched the lives of thousands of people. We know many of you are feeling this loss with us. We are heartbroken and deeply grateful—for his life, his generosity, and the clarity he provided so many.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to purchase one of Larry’s recorded classes, upgrade to a paid Substack subscription, or make a direct donation. Your contributions support the ongoing care of Larry’s legacy and help us preserve his body of work, keeping it accessible and maintained with integrity for years to come.
You are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life for Larry Byram in late January, which will be held on Zoom. Details will be shared via email, the Higher Alignment Substack, and Larry's Facebook page. We welcome your memories, photos, and comments:
In Life, Light, and Love, and with wishes for a gentle New Year,

Memories with Larry
As a retired Air Force Senior Colonel pilot who flew cargo and fighters around the world with three years in Vietnam . . .
I never really fully understood the value and meaning of “Self Authenticity” – Being truly me my way . . . understanding the value of BEING AUTHENTIC FROM WITHIN . . . and LIVING A TRULY AUTHENTIC LIFE Style 100%.
He helped me to further discover and define just who is Bill Carpenter from the inside out . . based on what I had to offer.
Under his supervision, I had the honor and privilege as as fellow Sage to teach others about Larry’s work.
My Bottom Line – HE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN MY RETIRED LIFE.
I even wrote a #1 Amazon Best Selling Book, “Free to Be Me My Way” and acknowledged Larry’s influence in my life.
THANK YOU, LARRY: FOR WHO YOU WERE AND
WHAT ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR OTHERS. . .
Jan
I like to tell people Higher Alignment is like having a cheat code for life since everything is essentially in relationship with others. When I moved away from Boulder it became apparent how much one leans on the HA community. We need that language to connect communicate share and even heal. It's just not easy to find people who can relate and understand once you have "drank the cool aid".
Many of you know Chris (affectionally "Crystal Chris" for me) well her sister Lori, joined me (divinely) in Larry's care when he got home from the hospital. Things moved fast and without Sandy's speedy orchestration and the communities help stepping up, we couldn't have done as well as we did! It wasn't easy and it wasn't hard; it was just what needed to be done. I was happy to be in service to someone who was in service to humanity on such a grand scale.
Who knows why the stars aligned that I was there, but it was a pretty special and sacred gift, a moment I won't ever forget and easily the most profound experience in my life. I didn't know all the intricacies of death and dying or how Larry wanted to transition but he shared some requests and more info came in from Chris and Sandy. Lori had great intuition in the moment. and together we figured out what to do. Not Lori's first rodeo but it was mine and she was such a great mentor! There are moments I wish were on video and you could see Lori and I in the throes of what should be a horrible experience, yet we are laughing and giggling and all poking fun at each other including our dear Larry! In fact, the more we played and teased each other the more connected he was with us, a true Sage, a comedian and wizard till the end!
After his passing I finally had time to open the book Death, The Great Adventure, by Alice Bailey and I can happily say we 100% provided the type of experience Larry was looking for. From the orange lights, the candles, to the frequency music and even the eucalyptus scents in the room it was a truly sacred and peaceful transition. I would encourage others to read this book as well.
We all have a date with destiny, and I'm beyond grateful Larry showed me not to be afraid in his last moments and previously in the hospital saying to me "you can do anything" that was not just inspiring but went directly to my heart and soul in a way I just don't have words.
Feeling lucky to have crossed paths with Larry and you all!
I have been using for 30 years what he shared with me in the two years I hung out with him. A lot of people have benefited from my understanding of compatibility factors and most specifically the Michael teachings.
Though I rejected him as a friend after his silly behavior around money I'm grateful for this soul choosing to help bring in what he did.
It's was fun for as long as it was.
😊
He was enigmatic; you rarely knew what he was thinking, and fascinated when you found out. An introvert myself, I sensed he was too. I was and am a linear thinker; he was a bigger picture thinker. Even then he saw relationships and patterns. He took some kind of multiple choice exam one time for some academic competition in high school, and when I asked “how was the test,” he laughed and said, it was okay, and told me his strategy: Answer all the questions you know, then answer B for all the others. He had intuited that the B answers were more likely correct, because of the psychology of the testing process and what he observed with the answers that did know and answered on it. He reported it worked – the majority of the B answers he marked that way were right!
Some highlights that I remember well from our time as kids and young adults: (1) driving insanely on the beach at night, doing crazy donuts, until the tire went flat, lucky he wasn’t arrested, my mom called the tow truck; (2) living at our house in Imperial Beach during a conflict with his parents; (3) although having turned vegetarian, he nevertheless taught me the best way to grill a steak (I still use it); (4) watching The Exorcist in San Francisco, both of us deeply affected; (5) taking me to a coffee house there, where I joined up with a duo to play piano on stage, just off the cuff, he had that “go for it” encouraging spirit; (6) he urged me to move from mainframe to microcomputers and basically got me my first job at Onyx, Inc., in that field in 1982 – we worked together – changed my life; (7) a couple of big parties at his beach house, and a couple more intimate meetups, too, in 1983-1984.
And occasionally kept in touch after he moved to Colorado; even met up in D.C. once for a really long conversation at lunch. (Yes, I remember a single lunch with Larry Byram in the 1990s – who wouldn’t?)
My mom, one of his biggest fans, and I, received a copy of his huge book when it was in near final draft form. What a monster amount of work and insight went into it. I’m delighted to read posts here from people whom he and his work have helped to improve their relationships and lives. BTW, I’m think-act-feel, which serves me well, except sometimes it blinds me to options and other people – as he told me.
Shocked, frankly, that he is gone, and I’ll forever remember him.

We still to this day, do inquiry in what we are aligning with as in a 'Act, Feel, Think' person and so forth. Larry was a really loving, thoughtful, person who WANTED you to win at life.
His method actually was a tiny bit *concerned (lol) for our relationship's wellbeing because we were so opposite, but as life had it those opposites were exactly each others medicine BECAUSE he taught us how to value all parts, not just likeness.
Larry, we know you can *hear all of us and see how deeply loved you are when in-body and now beyond! Thank you for being an instrumental being in our great relationship storyline. All our love.

You were a teacher, a guide, a father-like presence — steady, gentle, and profoundly felt. Through your work, I learned not only how to live with greater compassion, but how to parent from that place as well — honoring each child’s creative uniqueness, staying present, and trusting the deeper truth within them. Your teachings will continue to guide me.
Through you, I learned to honor my compassionate nature and to transform it into loving essence. I carry your transmission forward in my work and in the way I move through the world.
I miss your laugh. I miss your quiet strength.
I am honored to have known you, and I will see you in the spirit world.
You truly were a beautiful human.
Love you
I did a lot of typing for you as you “downloaded” the information which became the voluminous handouts for each class – writings so extensive not even I could keep up with reading all of them. But that didn’t matter, because you embodied the essence of your message and I will always remember you for that.
I was honored to be with you the last night of your life, giving your caregivers Lori and Patrick a much needed break from their 24-hour-a-day vigil. I told you how much your Higher Alignment teachings meant to me and that I use them every day. I love you and will remember you forever, this lifetime and the next. My greatest and dearest teacher, we will recognize each other when we meet again.
A couple weeks later, I came to your apartment to help Chris and Patrick pack up the hundreds (or thousands) of crystals you arranged in special energetic patterns all over your home. I took this photo of the crystals that were on a table by your head during your last days, communing powerful crystal energy to you and guiding you on your way.

in a way i'm now not so surprised that by chance i ran into someone i was loosely connected with over Larry. it was on christmas eve so if anything for me it holds like Larry is like a buddhist master who holds governance even in the afterlife and as though his energy affected that chance meeting at that exact coincidence of me holding the door for my mom and he was on the other side of it.
i'm sorry that i did not get to share more of how much Larry was an impact to me or i know that i had tried certainly but it's now to fully say what an absolute inspiration he was and will be for my life in how he chose to dive into measuring it fearlessly.
Thank you sweet and beloved Master
For several days before learning of his passing, I had been looking at a 6-page handout Larry gave me and other class members on Feb. 12, 2001, titled "Balancing Defensive Energies": his handouts and teachings and example have continued to be of huge value to me.
My whole way of looking at the world, life, myself, and others has wonderfully changed, thanks to you, Larry.
With gratitude forever,
Lindy
Kyle and I still think of our time with you and everything we learned in our time with you. Your work and energy continued to vitalize us all of these years. And continues to. You remind us how to be. To settle. To look. Listen. Thank You.
Lots of feelings on hearing the news of your passing. I'm sorry that you're gone! I will miss you and your sense of humour, your profound insights and mentorship.
I can't put into words the immense gratitude I feel for everything you've given me and for your contributions to this world.
I have lost a good friend, as the world has lost a good friend, yet we've gained a most beautiful ancestor.
The gift of being seen, in the way that you offered, is one of the things I will treasure most, along with the very clear investment you had in my wellbeing and life path. To think you offered this same investment to hundreds or thousands of people is affirming indeed.
I found these flowers today and the bright orange reminded me of you.
Sending all my love to you and many blessings for the continued impact of your work. We carry you in our hearts.

They were friends and ardent students of Alice Bailey/DK. Larry read all Bailey books (over 20 dense books) 3x, between 18 - 25, and Higher Alignment grew from there.
Lindsay's mind was incredible, as was her knowledge of the Bailey work and beyond!
These two Bailey scholars taught 5 classes together on how the Bailey work integrates with Higher Alignment.
When Lindsay passed, HA offered their 1st class as a tribute for Lindsay, and I'm sharing it here as a tribute to them both.

Such gratitude and love to you both on this next part of your great adventure...

Thank you, Larry, for making such a difference for me.
Thank you for seeing me more deeply and clearly than anyone ever had, on the first night we met. Thank you for showing me the beautiful possibility of creatively aligned relationships. Thank you for your unparalleled growth guidance. Thank you for helping me understand who I am not, so I can be who I am.
Your ability to see people was a rare and precious gift that will continue to touch lives far beyond the death of "Larry".
May we meet again in your next incarnation. Your wisdom of relationships, creativity, and triadic spirituality will continue to illuminate my life and work in the world.

Not all that long later, Andy and I became business partners with Larry and Michael in GISTICS, and we were off to the races, learning the frameworks and systems Larry channel and they co-developed.
So much more I could say and maybe I will at some point.
I've been on a path of personal growth, relational, dynamics, wisdom, development, and supporting others in their growth ever since.
Larry, thank you for being one of several incredible teachers and catalysts for my living truer and supporting others to do the same.
I still reference the fundamental compatibilities and Michael system work in my work, and that's over 30 years old!
I'm imagining you ecstatic soaring into the infinite and being with all the spirits and energies that you naturally danced with on this side.
Soar on bright light

This is a tribute to my friend, my mentor, my teacher—Larry from Higher Alignment 🤍
Larry didn’t just teach personality profiling… he taught permission.
Permission to fully accept ourselves—the light and the dark.
Permission to stop fixing who we are and start understanding who we are.
Through his work, I learned that our patterns aren’t flaws.
They’re information.
They’re wisdom.
They’re invitations to compassion instead of judgment.
What Larry shared changed my life—and the lives of so many others.
It helped us soften.
It helped us stop fighting ourselves.
It helped us remember that wholeness doesn’t mean perfection—it means acceptance.
Imagine the world we’d live in if we all accepted ourselves exactly as we are.
Light. Dark. Human. Whole.
Thank you, Larry. Your work lives on through every life you touched
