Believe in the spirit!  -Larkin James Mraz

From the family

Our beloved, Larkin James Mraz, has passed away and is now in heaven with Jesus. He was in a tragic car accident involving a tight curve in the road while the tropical storm Debby was pouring down during our family beach vacation. No one else was injured and he was the only person in the car.

As you can imagine, our whole family is absolutely devastated that our sweet Larkin is no longer with us. We know that if it wasn't his time to go, he would still be here and it is solely our faith that is providing the peace that surpasses all understanding.

We are so proud that he finished his life's work and will now be in heaven for eternity.

He was just entering his senior year of high school and preparing to graduate early, but God gave him a different kind of early graduation.

We also know that the days, weeks, and years ahead will not be easy without him.

Larkin loved deeply, spoke softly, and was a trusted loyal friend to many. As you can see from the photos below, our boy was adventurous, always full of life, loved fishing and snowboarding, and adored spending time with his dad and brother.

The only thing that Larkin would want is for everyone to know his friend, Jesus. He was a devout believer and even repeated the phrase, "Believe in the Spirit" from a very early age.

We will use this website as the main communication place for everyone regarding the Celebration of Life and a place where you can post photos and memories of Larkin. We are grateful for the role each of you had in Larkin's life and continue to have in our family now.

Thank you, Larkin, for the palpable joy you entered the world with and the abundance of love you are leaving us. We are so grateful for the 18 years you gave us and pray that we embrace you again in heaven one day.

Oh how we loved Larkin! We were so lucky to know him during the sweet preschool years! He and Bridges were good buddies! Larkin always asked if he could come over to our house!!!! So thankful I was able to say yes sometimes! Such a precious soul.

I had the opportunity to teach Larkin and work alongside Sheila & Max for many years. The whole family was such a huge part of Rainbow and my community. Larkin was always helping Max at Rainbow and loved to be outside and active. He was a “staff kid” with my children and always made them laugh and was a good friend. They always were happiest when they got to stay in after school or on staff days playing with Larkin or telling me funny things he had done that day. (One time he caught a rat in the compost- another time they went to eat at Tastee Diner etc) I remember so many sweet memories of laughing with Larkin. I also remember field trips to the Davidson River where he would always find a hellbender. He had such a gift in nature. I will never forget his beautiful smile and hope to love like Larkin each and everyday. ❤️

My sweet nephew and cousin to Jackson! You were a strong loving peaceful soul when you graced the earth and continue to shine in heaven. We are so grateful for the chance to know and love you. Some of my cherished memories are our sleep overs, forts and dance parties. You made our lives a brighter place. Will be loving and missing you until we meet again!

Life will never be the same without Larkin. My youngest grandchild. He came in with so much curiosity and didn't want to miss anything. His cousins kept him close. The days I watched them out on the pond in their kayaks trying to tip each other over. He was a bundle of love here and now in heaven. I feel cheated to have share only 18 years of his life. Larkin was so close to his family through his teenage years, until the day he left us. Love you, Love you Larkin

I am Larkin’s Aunt Bridgette.  When Larkin was a young toddler he had the sweetest way of talking that was endearing and also full of play.  Little did I know the wisdom packed into this adventurous child.  He would say “Whoooooo Cares” about anything that was trivial in his mind and meant so little to a rambunctious kid.  Then he would say, “Take a day Off…”   with a
mischievous grin.  I have kept these nuggets of wisdom with me over the years, when life is overwhelming and I am forgetting the big picture of what life is all about.  Larkin knew what was meaningful in life and lived that way.  He was always up for fishing, break dancing in the kitchen, or doing anything with his older brother Noah.

This summer I caught myself saying “Whooooo cares” at our family beach trip and I spotted Larkin out of the corner of my eye.  I went up and told him how much his words had stuck with me over the years… and he recited the words right back to me with that playful smile he always had.

You will be forever missed Larkin.  Thank you for sharing your gifts with SO many!

Larkin lives on in our hearts and through our memories. His gentle spirit and ‘all boy all the time’ persona brought joy and light to our lives. We miss him dearly and are holding Sheila, Max and Noah close.

I have SOOOO many favorite memories of my funny, gorgeous, amazing nephew Larkin, but will share a memory of him from this Spring Break when he came out to Colorado to hit Copper Mountain with his cousin Riley. We had SUCH a great time with him. After each of his big snowboarding days, he would hit the hot tub in our condo complex, and stay in there for literally hours! He was holding court meeting all the new people joining the hot tub from around the country. He made new friends every night and even offered up all the 'treasures' (lost things he found on the ski hill) to his new friends every night. Hilarious! He left the trip with pruned hands from hours in the hot tub, a solid limp in BOTH legs from massive snowboard days, and a smile on his face. Love you Larkin

Larkin was my nephew and he will be dearly missed by our whole family. Larkin had such a sweet and adventurous spirit, with a very funny, dry sense of humor. He had a gift of making people feel at ease. I have many fond memories of watching Larkin on family vacations with his older brother Noah and dad Max as they fished, looked for shark teeth, and found the next adventure. Thank you Larkin for sharing your gifts with us! We love you!!

Larkin was such a special part of our lives! We enjoyed watching him grow into the man he had become. His love for adventure, nature, his family and God was his truth. His love for Zane was so pure and to watch them grow together for 15 years has been such a beautiful experience. We are so grateful to know our sweet Larki is in heaven!! So honored to love him so deeply for so many years!!
He was our family and we miss him here on this earth and look forward to seeing him again in heaven.❤️
