Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and abiding love that we announce the passing of Kathryn Sarkovics Ozenbaugh, who went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on March 23, 1946, in Buffalo, New York, she was known for her warmth, generosity, and love of life.

Kathryn found joy in bringing people together and had a special gift for entertaining. Whether hosting a holiday dinner or an impromptu gathering, her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the delicious aroma of a well-cooked meal. She treasured every moment with her family—especially her grandchildren, whom she delighted in spoiling.

Kathryn’s faith in Jesus was the source of her hope, strength, and joy. Her mornings were spent in quiet reflection with her Bible; her prayers were heartfelt and constant, and her passion for sharing the gospel was evident throughout her life. She was a faithful wife to her husband, Don, with whom she shared nearly 58 years of marriage. Kathryn’s love for her family was unwavering, and she took great pride in her children, 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren—all of whom she adored.

Her legacy is one of love, family, and the simple joy of shared moments. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her caring nature, generosity, and her gift for making every gathering feel special.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Donald Ozenbaugh, Jr.; her children, Lisa (Eric) Kjeldgaard and Trey (Tricia) Ozenbaugh; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Laurie (Tim) Burdo; her brother, Jerry Sarkovics; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.

A service to celebrate Kathryn’s life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shelter Cove Church in Modesto, CA with a lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alpha Crisis Pregnancy Center in Merced, where Kathryn volunteered her time with compassion and dedication.

Kathryn will forever be loved, missed, and remembered.

We take comfort in knowing she is now with Jesus—where she always longed to be.

Katherine was a lovely person who took everyone under her wing. She was always finding ways to bring people together, whether through Bible study, Bunco, or just having a few friends over for lunch. She will be greatly missed. Lisa, Trea, Don and all, Larry and I are so sorry for your loss.

Kath’s daughter Lisa met me at Family Week with my two grandsons. I had just moved to Greenhorn and I knew no one.Lisa introduced me to Kath and we shared a wonderful friendship. She introduced me to Sue Hart and the 3 of us attended a Bible Study together.
She introduced me to Bunco also.
She loved getting a few of us together to have a glass of wine on her front porch in the rocking chairs

She was loving ,kind and caring.
We miss you Kath❤️

Kath was a lovely lady who shared many good times with many friends at Greenhorn Creek in Angels, Camp. She was always a very warm and welcoming friend who loved to get people together.
Her legacy at Greenhorn Creek is that she started our bunco group 25 years ago, to help new neighbors become acquainted and there are now at least 5/6 other groups that are going strong as a result of her initial out reach. We all loved Kath and have truly missed her since she and Don departed Greenhorn Creek.
God bless her soul.
