“When you dance, your purpose is not
to get to a certain place on the floor.
It’s to enjoy each step along the way”
Obituary
Kathleen Ann (Hartigan) Keith, 81, of Osprey, FL and Annapolis, MD passed away peacefully at home into the comforting arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2024.
Kathleen was born on May 12, 1943 in Meriden, CT, the daughter to Joseph and Bernadette Hartigan. Kathleen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was recognized as Miss Middletown, CT as a teen and went on to pursue her passion for dance over the next 30 years. She was known as Ms. Kathleen to many in the Annapolis area where she owned several dance studios and taught hundreds of aspiring young dancers. She met and married the love of her life, Virgil Keith at St. John’s Church in Middletown, CT on June 6, 1964. At the time of her passing, they had just celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Kathleen lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures like traveling and had an innate ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She doted on the lights of her life: her family, friends, grandchildren and fur-grandchildren. Her radiant smile, generous heart and compassionate spirit will carry on in the many lives that she touched.
Blessed with a large family, Kathleen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Virgil Keith; her children Kimberly (husband Mark) McVicker of Annapolis, MD, VJ Keith of Englewood, FL and Kyle (wife Sarah) Keith of Tampa, FL; 7 grandchildren including Madelyn, Brent, Connor and Tyler McVicker as well as Molly, Casey and Annie Keith; 6 fur-grandchildren including Dakota, Mako, Chloe, Zena, Riggo and Mac; sisters Margaret, Elizabeth, Theresa; sister-in-law Lorraine, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bernadette Hartigan as well as her brother, Joseph Hartigan and her brother-in-law, Carmelo Pattavina.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to honor Kathleen at her Celebration of Life on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Andrew’s By The Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, MD. Her final resting place will be held privately at the United States Coast Guard Academy Columbarium in New London, CT, at a later date.
Although we mourn her loss; her legacy of love, service and faith will carry on in the many lives that she touched. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we kindly ask that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in Kathleen’s name.

With love and friendship, The Rizzo Family
Words simply cannot convey the depth of sorrow and loss I and my family feel at Kathy's passing. Sixty years of friendship, partnership, traveling buddies, neighbors, and surrogate parents to each other's children has all but melded us into one big family. There are so many happy memories.
My love goes out to each of you. See you September 6th.
Donna
