Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Kathie Hoops, who was born on October 25, 1959, and passed away on July 31, 2026, at home in Woodland Hills, CA.


Kathie will be remembered for kindness, generosity, and her charismatic ability to bring people together. Family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues all experienced the warmth and sincerity that made time spent with Kathie meaningful and memorable.

Throughout life, Kathie built lasting connections and touched many lives through simple acts of care, encouragement, and friendship. Conversations, shared moments, and everyday gestures created memories that will remain with those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family meant a great deal to Kathie, and her relationships were built on honesty and authenticity. Friends valued loyalty and sincerity, while colleagues appreciated her dedication and thoughtful approach to work and collaboration.


The passing of Kathie leaves a space that cannot be filled. She leaves behind her husband (Richard Hoops), two children (Allison and Casey), and seven siblings. The memories, adoration, and moments shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.

Kathie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

I knew Kathie through her daughter, Allison, and I’ll always remember how welcoming and fun she was. She had such a warm, easygoing presence. Truly the kind of “friend mom” who made you feel comfortable right away. She remembered little things about me, was always so easy to talk to, and was just such a cool mom. I’m so grateful I had the chance to know her.

Kathie and I are related through my bother Richard, Richard was fortunate to marry Kathie many years ago. My sister and I (another Kathy) spent some time last October visiting our California relatives. I look back on that week and thank the heavenly stars that we made the trip. Kathie was the perfect hostess in that she became THE best tour guide. Every day was a new venture. We spent time at the beaches, toured through the canyons, and travelled to Santa Barbara to meet Casey. On our trip home from Santa Barbara, she drove us home with the Pacific Ocean on our right and a full moon up in the skies. She even played some 80's music - much to my liking. I can honestly say that trip was one of the most memorable car rides I have ever had. Two weeks after we returned home to Michigan I understand that Kathie's health started to decline. My love to Richard, Allison and Casey as they deal with their loss.

My heart is with Kathie’s family and everyone who loved her. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and connected, and it is easy to understand why she meant so much to so many. The way she showed up for others with kindness, sincerity, and that rare ability to bring people together is a legacy that will continue to ripple through every life she touched.

I had the privilege of working with Kathie at Paramount, and she was always the first to offer help with anything, no matter how big or small. And her laugh, bright, unmistakable, and completely contagious, was something you could never miss and something I will always carry with me.

I am holding Allison, Casey, Richard, and her siblings close in my thoughts. Losing someone who shaped so many meaningful moments leaves a space that is impossible to fill, but the memories she created will stay bright. Wishing her family comfort, strength, and gentle days ahead as they navigate this loss.
