Obituary
Kai Devin Warnock passed peacefully on May 15th 2024 surrounded by family after a four-year battle of Leukemia.
Kai was born February 8th 1960 in Honolulu Hawaii, the second son to Dennis and JoAnne Warnock. Dennis served in the United States Navy and Air Force and brought his family with him from Hawaii, to Georgia, to Nebraska, to Washington State until settling in Grand Rapids, Michigan all while adding four new daughters to the family. Kai attended school in Grand Rapids Michigan where he was an award-winning wrestler and became a life-long Michigan University Football fan. Kai was a member of the Team USA Jr. Olympics for wrestling where he placed 6th overall. From there, the family moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota where Kai graduated high school and worked until he was invited to attend college at Eastern Washington University for a wrestling scholarship.
Kai returned to Minnesota and began his working career an electrical engineer at Honeywell where he met his former wife, Sheila McNair. The two began a family in Monticello where they had three sons. Although Kai and Sheila parted ways, they both stayed in Minnesota to raise their children. Kai worked as a VP of Operations until he was able to retire early at the age of 62.
Kai was a passionate golfer, reader, traveler, and Wolverines football fan. He was well known for his work ethic but in his off time, he would likely be found at the golf course. Kai also loved spending time with his family and his golden retriever, "Godzilla". His retirement plans were to take his dog and his conversion van around the United States stopping at various golf courses and civil war sites.
Kai is survived by his older brother Jay (Carter, Hayden); his younger sisters Gaye (Elizabeth, Henry, Never), Tae (Jessica, Sydney), Rae (Caitlin, Emily, Riley) and Shay (Amanda, Haley); and sons Devin, Zach (Maria), and Isiah Warnock. He is preceded in death by his parents Dennis and JoAnne.
In respect of Kai's wishes, no funeral service will be held, but an intimate celebration of life is being arranged for this summer and details will be shared soon.
