Judy Rey Brim passed away peacefully on April 7th leaving behind a legacy of life-long learning and service to her community. Born on March 26, 1943, in Newfane, NY, she was the cherished daughter of the late Henry and Justine Rey. Judy shared a beautiful 47-year marriage with her high school sweetheart, Bruce P. Brim.
She is survived by her children, Andrew D. Brim (Julie) of Dublin, OH, and Amy R. Tobias (James Glueck) of Indianapolis, IN. Judy took immense pride in her role as Nana to her five grandchildren: Ian Brim and Jack Brim of Columbus, OH, Andrew Brim and Ella Tobias of Chicago, IL, and R. Sam Tobias of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves behind her beloved brother and nephew, Kevin Rey (Mary) and Keith, of Buffalo, NY.
Judy, a graduate of Lockport Senior High School, earned her college degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University. Passionate about shaping young minds, she co-directed Discovery Nursery School alongside the late Sue Lerch and Ann Secord before going on to devote 25 years to teaching third and fifth-grade students in Lockport, touching countless lives through her love of learning and her dedication to her students.
Judy had an energetic spirit and a zest for life that radiated through in everything she did. A talented crafter and enthusiastic game player, she was also an ardent and spirited fan of the Buffalo Bills. Judy often spent time watching the PGA Tour - continuing a love of the sport fostered by her late father, Henry Rey.
In place of flowers, the family asks that donations in Judy’s memory be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or Earth Rangers USA—two causes close to her heart.
A private Celebration of Life will be held by her family.

Your mom was a terrific neighbor and a good friend.
She brought me a cake the day I moved in and used to send texts at 5:00 announcing "wine time" - a call to bring my glass of wine and join her on her patio. I will miss her.
So sorry to hear about Judy's passing. She was a great lady and always so kind and caring. And funny.

I taught in the classroom right next door to Judy at Charles Upson Elementary. She was an absolute hoot. Her smile and sense of humor were contagious. She loved each of her students as if they were her own children. My life was richer for knowing her. Love to you all.

It broke my heart to watch her weaken, and to see her get more concerned. Her family used the phrase “zest for life” in her obituary, and that term suited her perfectly. But when she lost that zest for life, it was time. She told me at the end of 2024 that she was ready to go. So she did.
I will think of her every day and always keep her in my heart.
Much love, Elaine
