Obituary

Judith Ann “Judy” Arnold, 86, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, after bravely living with Parkinson’s Disease. A loving mother, sister, and friend, Judy will be remembered for her warmth, her adventurous spirit, and her unwavering positivity.

Born on May 28, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, Judy was the daughter of Jesse and Helen Arnold and the sister of Sandra Kirk and the late Jesse Arnold, Jr. She graduated from DuSable High School, where she built lifelong friendships and developed the lively personality that would define her throughout her life.

In 1957, Judy married Carl Johnson, with whom she shared a 10 year-union.   Judy, a single parent, raised her three daughters—Carol Johnson, Donna Johnson, and Shirley Ashe—who were her pride and joy. Judy’s work ethic shone through in every professional role she held, from her early years at Spiegel and The Naval Ordnance to her later service with the IRS and the Department of Health and Human Services. Her strong sense of duty and tenacity guided her both in her career and personal life.

Judy’s free time was filled with joy and movement—whether it was bowling with friends, playing cards late into the night, dancing, or listening to the rhythms of her favorite music. She embraced life with a friendliness that drew others in and a determination that inspired those lucky enough to know her.

Though there will be no formal funeral service, Judy’s memory lives on vividly in the hearts of her family and friends.

She leaves behind her sister, Sandra Kirk, three daughters, Carol Johnson, Donna Johnson and Shirley Ashe, three granddaughters, Monet Jordan, Chanel Craig and Kaylee Ashe, two great-grandchildren, Marcus Jordan and Gabrielle Jordan, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
