Joshua was an extraordinary and gentle person, deeply committed to climate change work and to honoring the knowledge and ways of the Indigenous peoples.
He loved the Nuna, it's plants and animals, and the Indigenous peoples and landscaped that shaped ihs life and work.
Joshua brought people together, through him, we met so many wonderful people whose lives were also toughed by his warmth, curiosity, and care for the world.
He was a precious soul and will always be remembered with love.
Joshua was a committed supporter of educations, he understood how scholarships can remove financial barriers and allow students to study with far less worry. In his memory, donations can be directed to a scholarship fund with the Qaujigiartiit Health Research Centre (QHRC).

I met Joshua at Parks Canada in Iqaluit. He was one of the few around the office who said yes to a mutual colleague about taking some photos around the workplace. My favourite photo from that day is one of him and I and it has been on my fridge ever since. Eventually, we became neighbors and I remember telling him after we both moved to new places how I missed having him as my neighbor. What such a lovely man Josh will forever be in my memories.

I knew Joshua as a young teenager when he came to me with his grandmother, Dorothee, for flute lessons. I had an Inukshuk on my front lawn, which he pointed out to Dorothee as he was leaping up the steps to my house. I had made it out of loose rocks around my front lawn. It was intended to be an artistic symbol of welcome to all cultures and in his case it served it's purpose.
He was a beautiful, sensitive soul and although he had never had any formal music training when he came to me, his essence and talent could be heard when he first played in my studio.
I'm deeply saddened to learn of his untimely passing. RIP dear Joshua.
