In Loving Memory of Joseph (Joey) Baier
December 11, 1992 – August 1, 2024

With heavy hearts, we remember Joseph "Joey" Baier, who left us far too soon at the age of 31. Born in Berkeley, California, Joey grew up in the vibrant atmosphere of the San Francisco Bay Area before later settling in Portland, Oregon. His journey was one of determination, love, and profound impact on all who knew him.

Joey was a loving father to his son, Julian, who was the light of his life. He was the devoted son of Greg and Juli Baier, cherished brother to Brian and Tommy, and life partner to Julian’s mom, Jaimee Baier. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who adored his unique spirit.

Joey was a man of endless curiosity and brilliance. His mischievous nature and quick wit were matched by his sweetness, humor, and sensitivity. Known as "Jojee" to his family and "Joe" to his colleagues and fellow parents, he embraced life's challenges with a courage and resilience that inspired those around him.

A talented welder, Joey most recently honed his craft in the aviation industry. He had a restless energy that drove him to pursue many passions—swimming, running, biking, and tinkering in his shop, where he made knives, worked on motorcycles, and his beloved truck. Joey was an avid reader and a lover of music, always seeking deeper knowledge and new experiences.

But above all else, Joey’s greatest joy came from being a father. Whether teaching Julian to ride a bike, swim, or camp under the stars, he poured his heart into sharing life’s adventures. He encouraged curiosity and learning, valuing a life well-lived over material things. From foraging and fishing to quiet evenings reading together, Joey cherished every moment with Julian.

Joey’s adventurous and stubborn spirit often set him apart from the mainstream, but it was this same spirit that brought light to others, even in his own struggles. He had a gift for lifting those around him, offering humor and comfort when it was most needed.

Though he preferred to stay behind the camera (camera-shy being an extreme understatement), Joey’s essence was unforgettable—lovely, handsome, and undeniably one of a kind.

Joey, you were a force of nature, a compassionate soul, and a beacon of love and laughter. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew you, especially in Julian, whose life you so passionately shaped.  We love you, Jojee. Rest well, knowing the love you shared continues to shine brightly in us all.
