Jonathan Michael Reckwerdt

“When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.”
Obituary
Jonathan Michael Reckwerdt, 39, passed away on April 18, 2026.
Born on August 16, 1986, in Miami, Florida, Jonathan grew up in Islamorada in the Florida Keys at his family’s marina, where he developed a lifelong love for the ocean and everything connected to it. Fishing, diving, boating, exploring, and life on the water were part of who he was from the very beginning.
Jonathan worked as a mobile marine mechanic and was known by many as a true jack of all trades when it came to marine work. He had a natural talent for fixing things and took pride in helping others. His knowledge, work ethic, and calm approach earned him the respect and friendship of many throughout the Keys community and beyond.
Jonathan was easygoing, funny, adventurous, and deeply loved by those who knew him. People were naturally drawn to his old soul and kind nature. He loved cars, especially his Toyota Supra, video games, playing pool, traveling, and creating memories with his daughter, Aeris. One of his most cherished recent adventures was a road trip through Georgia with Aeris, visiting waterfalls and enjoying time together.
Jonathan had recently entered an exciting new phase of life with the purchase of his new home, planning to make future steps for his daughter also by starting his own business as a mobile marine mechanic.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Aeris; his father, Michael Reckwerdt; his mother, Annie Reckwerdt and his siblings, Cailin Reckwerdt, Anna Reckwerdt, Robbie Reckwerdt, and Caroline Reckwerdt.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Island Community Church in Islamorada, Florida.
Jonathan’s life is a reminder to appreciate the people around you, and enjoy every moment life gives you. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

I just heard the news today about Jon's passing from a friend of mine, and I’m truly heartbroken and in shock. I still remember meeting him five years ago at a car meet when I was admiring this Toyota Supra and went over to talk to Jon who owned it. We soon became friends. He was incredibly kind enough to give me many rides in his amazing car. It was so fast and fun to be in. We shared a great passion for cars and started to meet up more and more. We had many phone conversations about cars, life and family and I enjoyed every phone call with Jon. I learned many things from him as well.
His kindness was on a whole other level! I’ll never forget when I was moving one day and was desperate for help at a time no one could help me — he drove over almost immediately to help. Im extremely grateful for that. He also invited me and my family to come visit and spend some time at his new home that he recently purchased and offered to take us out on the water but never got the chance to. I will miss Jon dearly. My deepest condolences to the Reckwerdt family.
