Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Johnson Chin, who was born on December 25, 1936 and passed away on September 17, 2026 in Fremont, California.

Johnson Chin was deeply loved by his family and friends, he left an indelible positive impact on everyone that he encountered. He lived his life based on the principles of devotion, honesty, and generosity to his family, work, and to God. From his journey as an immigrant to the United States to owning a successful construction company under his own name, his success is a testament to his hard work and sacrifices made in order to provide the best possible opportunities to his family and friends. 
We will miss him dearly, the world lost a good, kind, and decent man. 

Memorial Service

The Johnson Chin Memorial Service will be held at the Tree of Life Lords Harvest Christian Church on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2pm to 5pm. Food and drinks will be served after the memorial service. Details below:

One of my earliest memories is my dad and uncle Johnson and his crew brought me along to this diner that used to be on Taravel called Zim's. He bought us breakfast and we got to sit at the bar on stools and I had hashbrown eggs and cornbeef hash. Uncle and dad were laughing about stuff, and it made me want to be a construction worker when I grew up 'cause it seems like they have a lot of fun. I always thought my dad had a booming, commanding voice and that his laugh was like a jackhammer, until he's next to my uncle. My uncle had a voice that dwarfed my dad's and his laugh was even louder. My dad told me a lot of stories growing up in Burma with my uncle, and it made obviously hard times seem nostalgic.
