Uncle Johnny, you are missed! We have so many fond memories of you and our family Christmas ski trips. Al though you were never a great skier you would follow the family all over the mountain, and simply say "I don't know" and off we would go. Many times, down a bump run where the moguls where as big as he was. The many camping trips to the lake to water ski, hang out around the campfire and just have fun. Before the family started our Christmas tradition and did the gift exchange. Johnny gave me my first album Neil Young Harvest. It was released Feb. 1972, I don't know what year he gave me the album.
Johnny you have been missed at the last few family Christmases as your health would not allow your travel to the high altitudes. You will be missed and remembered.
Love you Mikey

I met John in 1978 as I was reporting for my 1st military duty assignment at Ft Carson. Walked in saw him first at the eye clinic and asked where is the ENT clinic was he pointed and said "over there" and never looked up. Was funny at the time and we became friends. He loved it and got so excited when I would call him with a "camping alert". He couldn't wait to go. Over the years we welcomed him as part of our family. We did so many things together and have so many memories. Fishing, camping, boating. He loved the out doors so much. We enjoyed having him join us on our many adventures including a visit to Hawaii. Friends like this are hard to find. Our hearts are saddened but our memories are full. Love you John

I met Johnny over 45 years ago when I married into the Lee family. The Lee family started a tradition of a ski weekend for Christmas instead of gift giving. Johnny was a big part of this tradition. He loved the Rummy games; the skiing and all the family slide shows from the past. Ron and I will Miss you, Johnny!!

I met John just days after marrying my husband Jim in 1978 and moving to Colorado. John and Jim quickly became best of friends, skiing, golfing, fishing and spending many nights to wee hours in the morning playing atari. I always said when I married Jim I got John too! He quickly became a part of our family. He watched our girls grow up and then he watched their kids grow up. Always there to bait their hooks, help them cast and take the fish off the hook. He played with them, often times becoming a kid himself. When camping he was always at campsite first so he could greet us with an open can of cold coors for us to enjoy before setting up. He set up the Horseshoes and had them ready to go no matter where we were. I could go on an on. His heart was bigger than none other. Always helping whoever needed a helping hand. He would give his shirt off his back if someone needed it without thinking twice. We were very fortunate to have him as a part of our family. We will truly miss him.

I’ve known John my entire life! He has always been known as “Uncle John” to my sister and I. He helped teach us fish when we were little, and he eventually helped teach our kids too! A camping trip with John always meant we got boat time, and lots of fishing. John’s boat never had any rules and he allowed as many dogs as we wanted in his boat. Dogs on the seats? No problem!! :) John was always so accommodating. He loved camping, and we loved having him along! He went on many trips with us as kids, and adults! John will be missed dearly!! So thankful we got to spend some time with him in the last month, laughing and reminiscing on so many years past. We looked at pictures and he remembered them all! It was important to me that he met my daughter, as he never got to meet her before. She talked his ear off, and he just smiled the whole time!! He said she reminded him of me, when I was little! Thankful to call John family! 🩷

Johnny always made everyone smile and he always had a smile and a hug for others. We were all so fortunate to have had many years of Lee famliy gatherings where Johnny was a mainstay. His presence is so missed. Love you, Johnny!

Johnny was a kind soul and he brought many smiles to my face and a lot of laughs growing up! He may have also brought a cracked tooth or two from a missed BB in his jerky, but I couldn't stop eating it after he delivered it. I didn't get to see Johnny often after moving away from Colorado Springs, but I will no doubt miss him. Love you, Johnny!
