Message from your Son
In Loving Memory of My Father, Joao Francisco Cordeiro
March 1941 – July 26, 2025
Written by his son, John (Johnny) Cordeiro Jr.
On July 26, 2025, my father, Joao Francisco Cordeiro, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 in his beloved Portugal. He left this world just as he lived in it—with strength, dignity, and surrounded by love.
I was blessed to make it to Portugal in time—to see him, to hold his hand, and to tell him how much I love him. In that quiet moment, as he looked at me with the same warmth he always had, I knew he was at peace. I knew he felt the love of his family, the pride of a life well lived, and the comfort of his legacy continuing on.
My dad wasn’t just a great father—he was my best friend, my teacher, and the foundation of who I am. He lived a life of deep purpose, rooted in the land he loved so dearly. The olive oil farm in Alfândega wasn’t just his work—it was his passion. Every tree, every harvest, every stone on that land carries his fingerprints and his heart.
He sacrificed more than most will ever know to provide for his family, and he did it without ever asking for anything in return. He was a fair, honest, and humble man who treated everyone with respect and always appreciated those who offered a helping hand—especially in the moments he needed it most.
Dad always called me Johnny, and he never stopped believing in me. He gave his whole heart to his family, Rachel, Alexandria, and Susan, and to me, his only son. He taught us the meaning of hard work, of loyalty, and of love that never wavers.
We don’t mourn his passing as much as we celebrate his life—a life filled with meaning, purpose, laughter, and friendship. He found joy in the work, peace in the land, and pride in his family.
He was a great man, and I was honored to be his son.
We will miss him every day, but we will carry his strength and love with us always.
Love you, Dad.
Thank you for everything. Rest peacefully—your work here is done, and it was beautiful.
