Obituary
Jessie Mae Rosette, In Loving Memory
December 4, 1928 – July 8, 2024
With deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Jessie
Mae Rosette, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend. Jessie Mae was born on December
4, 1928, in Beaumont, Texas, to Evie Green and Archie W. Rosette Sr. She was the second of
four siblings, who have all preceded her in death: Edward J. Rosette Sr., Archie W. Rosette Jr.,
and Grace M. Seals.
Jessie grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she received her education and formed a
foundation of values that would guide her throughout her life. Her devotion to her family and
faith was evident in all she did. Jessie had six beloved sons: Robert Anthony Rosette (Jeanie),
Rev. Larry Wayne Rosette (Joyce), Winston Tyronne Rosette, Nathaniel Lee Rosette, Ricky
James McPhearson (Allisa), and Lawrence Dean Rosette, who is now deceased. Jessie’s
niece, Trudy Jordan, was like a daughter to her and a cherished sister to her sons. In 1979,
Jessie married Napoleon Pitts, who also preceded her in death.
A dedicated Christian from an early age, Jessie was a founding and chartering member of the
True Vine Baptist Church alongside her mother. She was a respected member of the Eastern
Star Masonic Temple and the Praying Anointed Women (PAW), known lovingly as the Prayer
Line. Jessie’s faith was her cornerstone, and her favorite scriptures were Psalms 23 and John
14, with Marvin Sapp's "Never Would Have Made It" being her favorite song.
Jessie was known for her vibrant personality, her wit, her signature color, purple, and her ability
to make everyone feel welcomed with her delicious homemade meals. She was a devoted
Certified Child Caregiver who helped many children in foster care for many years, lovingly
nurturing children as if they were her own. The love and support she offered to the children is
now being seen in their lives as prominent members of the community. Jessie supported causes
close to her heart, including St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith through her many grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous family members. Jessie also leaves
behind her dear best friend and traveling companion, Lellah Maxey, and a cherished cousin,
Wanda Caillier (Larry).
The family expresses deep appreciation for the compassionate care provided by her doctors,
the hospital staff, White Blossom Care Center, and the hospice team. Special thanks are due to
Marie Graciano, who devoted over thirty years to caring for Jessie, and to Robert and Jeanie
Rosette for opening their home and hearts, enriching Jessie’s final years with joy and love. We
also extend our gratitude to those who visited, called, or sent cards, and to Tulip Cremation and
Calvary Catholic Cemetery for their services.
Jessie Mae Rosette lived through many of life’s changes, witnessing historical events and
technological advancements, all while remaining the family historian and matriarch. Her
presence will be deeply missed but her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Jessie Mae. You will always be loved and remembered.
