We are not given a good life or a bad life - We are given a life. It is up to us to make it good or bad.

Obituary

Dear family and friends,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jennifer May Kong, who left us peacefully on July 30th at 10:05 AM, surrounded by her daughter Alix, her husband Alan, her son-in-law Jamieson, her sister Judy and her brother-in-laws Eric and Roth.

Jennifer was born in 1958 in Saint John, on Canada's east coast, to Julia and Gene Wong. She was the beloved sister of Jacqueline, Juliana, Judy, Gerry, and Eugene. The family later moved to Vancouver, where Jennifer spent her childhood and grew into the woman so many would come to love. In 1987, she married Alan Kong, and together they raised their daughter Alix in Kelowna before moving back to Vancouver to be closer to family.

Jennifer had a true love for art and pottery, and spent many happy hours at the wheel and in her studio. Some lucky friends and family still hold onto plates, bowls, and cups shaped by her own hands — small, lasting pieces of her creativity and care. She was also an avid golfer, spending countless hours at the range and on the course, and she treasured the friendships she built along the way at Capilano.

Jennifer was a ray of light to everyone who knew her. She carried a constant, infectious positivity that gave her the strength to face whatever came her way — and to be a source of strength for the people around her. Those who knew her remember a true picture of courage, a fighter who remained unwavering through every challenge, and a wonderful person who lived life to the fullest. She was, in the words of so many who reached out, a bright light — generous, thoughtful, and full of kindness, with a special way of making everyone around her feel cared for. A wonderful, kind, generous woman. A great human being.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Alan, her daughter Alix, her mother Julia, and her siblings Juliana, Judy, Jacqueline, Eugene, and Gerry and her son-in-law Jamieson.
