Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
Obituary
Jeannette Braddock Steiber, 76, of Tillamook, Oregon, passed away Wednesday morning, February 19th, 2025. A gathering of family and friends was held Thursday February 27th, 2025 at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
Jeannette was born on February 5th, 1949 to Lester and Lora Delle Braddock in St. Paul, Minnesota. She grew up in Meridian, Idaho and Tillamook, Oregon. She married her high-school sweetheart Tom Steiber on July 18th, 1970 in Beaverton, Oregon. Tom’s Air Force career led to adventures around the world, including Taiwan, California, Netherlands, Washington DC, Wyoming, North Carolina, Hawaii, and Illinois. They settled back in Tillamook in 2012, where Jeannette reconnected with lifelong friends. Jeannette and Tom were married 54 years.
Jeannette was active in the Nazarene Church community, teaching Sunday School and playing the piano for church services. Jeannette’s favorite day of the week was Sunday, and her favorite time of the day was getting ready for church, playing gospel music and singing at maximum volume to wake up her kids.
Jeannette enjoyed various hobbies during her life including playing the piano, sewing, cooking, playing cards, traveling, politics, going to the beach, gardening, and going for a walk around the neighborhood. She was always interested in learning new things, even obtaining a degree in English Literature from University of Hawaii in 1988. Jeannette co-owned a Christian Bookstore from 1994 to 2004 where she shared her faith with others every day.
Jeannette especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Jeannette’s family was more important to her than anything. When she wasn’t with her family, she would be organizing and scrolling through their pictures.
Jeannette is survived by her husband Tom Steiber, her children Theresa Strawser of Oregon City, Oregon; Jonathan Steiber of Navasota, Texas; and Christopher Steiber and his wife Rosio of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lydia, Violet, Juliette, James, Leonardo and Penelope; sister Amelia Willcuts and husband Larry; and brother Douglas Braddock and wife Mona.
Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Lora Delle Braddock, and her sister Karyl Petersen and husband Richard.

This song came to my mind as I thought about Jeannette and had to share it. I selected the piano version as I imagine her playing this song. You can sing along with the lyrics on the screen. This is Jeannette’s reality now. Her faith has become sight. Thanks be to God.

I feel enormously blessed that you were in my life; now you are in my heart ❤️, in our hearts. Tom, my ‘sis’ Theresa, Jonathan, Christopher and family, we think of you 😘

What a Wonderful Life she had!!!
She commented at work several times after that how comfortable their new seat was! I have so many other memories, but that has always been my favorite.
I'm so sorry to all of you for such a great loss. My prayers for comfort and strength are with you.
Theresa was born that day and our daughter was born 1 day earlier. After the Steiber family went back to America Jeannette and I wrote letters to each other.
When Ellen and Theresa growed up, they started writing together. They met each other a few times in The States and in the Netherlands. In 2019 Ellen went with her husband 3 children to Jeannette, Tom and Theresa and they were received very warmly.
We remember Jeannette as a very lovely person!
Fred and I are thinking of you all ❤️
My prayers are with you, Tom and the rest of the family.
