Life sucks, but in a beautiful kind of way

Obituary
Jean-Noël Pennachi
December 11, 1961 - May 16, 2025
Father, brother, husband, friend, was called suddenly to his eternal rest on May 16, 2025.
A worldly, wise and well-traveled man, Jean-Noël had a natural warmth, kindness, generosity and humility.
Jean-Noël leaves behind his loving Debbie (D’Arcy Pennachi); his spectacular children, Della Madeleine and Julian Denis.
Jean-Noël was the son of the late Madeleine (Guillon) and Noël Pennachi; brother to Joël Pennachi, Noëlla "Nanou" (Pennachi) Despujols, Jacqueline (Pennachi) Labbe, Janick (Pennachi) Crespel, Nadine “Didi” (Pennachi) Masseau, Danielle “Dani” (Pennachi) Masseau; “the Fun Uncle” to many nieces and nephews and many, many, devoted friends.
Jean-Noël was raised in Pruillé L’Eguillé, France. He was graduated from Le Mans Université earning an Associate of Arts.
Jean-Noël traveled the globe for work, love and pleasure. He worked in 22 Countries all over the world! Jean-Noël was a veteran in the French Ministry for Armed Forces from 1981 – 1984, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in France, Africa-French Guiana. Jean-Noël loved being a Club Med G.O. or “Gentil Organisateur” for over ten years, throughout Europe, USA, Africa, Middle East, British West Indies and Caribbean. Jean-Noël was an ébéniste - a master craftsman in cabinet making. He was a skilled professional with extensive experience and knowledge in designing, constructing, and finishing furniture, commercial and residential cabinetry. Jean-Noël possessed a deep understanding of wood, working techniques, materials, and tools. He created high-quality, custom furniture to meet any specific needs and design requirements.
In 1995, Jean-Noël left the Caribbean to make his own memorable experiences in America. Here, he married his former wife Debbie D’Arcy and created his family, first in Philadelphia and then in Atlanta, GA. For over twenty years, Jean-Noël’s Dunwoody, GA home became a marvel of creativity, curiosity and non-stop laughter. Jean-Noël enjoyed and was immensely enjoyed by all manner of company and passions - family, life, friendships, the beach (but not swimming), infamous celebrations, comedy, and music.
A storyteller at heart, Jean-Noël could command a room with a subtle turn of phrase, a one-liner, an impression or expression. He was the rare breed of natural performer and comedian, infusing his comedy with overwhelming warmth. While you were doubled over laughing, he was right there with you, eternally on your side. He loved playing jokes, dancing and making up nicknames for his kids and “Fifi & Lulu”, “Popeye, Olive Oyle, Milou”, the family dogs.
Jean-Noël poured his life into his family. He loved deeply—siblings, family, nieces and nephews, friends and more friends and friends of friends. If you were lucky enough to spend time with him socially, you left lighter, happier and better off. There was no end to laughter in Jean-Noël’s presence. If there is such a thing as the life of the party, Jean-Noël was the Bigger Than Life of the party.
Jean-Noël is gone too soon and will be missed by many.

Memories
I had the privilege of working with him in Pompano, FL — he always had an open heart and always spoke with so much pride about his son and daughter. I remember one day when we were leaving work under heavy rain, and since English was our second language, we struggled to say “pouring rain” and laughed so much about it.
From the bottom of my heart, I hope he was cared for in his final days here on earth. Rest in peace. May he always live on in the memory of those who had the chance to know him.
Bisous.
Gilles
When we arrived in the United States, you welcomed us so warmly, as if we were part of your family. We immediately connected with Jean-Noël—so naturally—and very quickly became friends. We shared many joyful and festive moments together, memories that remain truly special to us. We often think back on those times with great fondness and nostalgia.
Even after returning to Europe, far from you, you have always stayed in our hearts and in our thoughts.
We are deeply saddened by Jean-Noël’s untimely passing. We had so hoped to see him again, to reconnect and share more happy moments.
Please accept our sincerest condolences. We are truly sorry not to be by your side during this difficult time, but know that our thoughts and hearts are with you.
With all our love,

While we mourn the loss of our dear JN, we also aim to cherish the moments shared and the joy brought into our lives. We will be having two ceremonies, one in the United States and one in France for our world traveler.
Philadelphia: We request that attendees refrain from wearing black clothing and instead wear blue, his favorite color. Since Jean-Noël loved a celebration, we will be gathering following the ceremony for food and refreshments all together as he would have loved.
Your presence would mean a great deal to us during this time of remembrance.
