My deepest sympathy to Jasmim’s family and friends on the heartbreaking loss of your beloved Jasmim. I will always remember her kindness, passion, and the generosity she showed so freely to others.

Jasmin, what a incredible sunbeam of joy and energy - you brought positivity and intense commitment to the projects we worked on together. The Be Kind Rewind programme and festival in 2024 was a highlight of our collaborations and the success of the festival was a result of the wonderful team of which you were a key member. You brought joy and tenderness to our home as you taught Axy and Hannah, and as your demonstrated to them, and to Joshua, how to be secure in who you are and ENJOY the unique personality with which God has created us all. They looked forward to their classes with you because they had found a friend, someone they admired, and someone who really appreciated them for exactly who they were. From cat socks, to delicious bakes and entertaining activities, know that you touched our lives and brought light and life.
Esmeralda, Lobos and Luna, we continue to pray for you at this time. Know that your beautiful daughter touched the lives of so many.

Jazz I only started to get to know you and you were gone, you were such a great student, so dedicated and curious. I will miss your kindness and generosity you always showed to others. Jasmim was a truly unique individual who was not afraid of voicing her opinions regardless of whether they aligned with those of others in the room, which is one of the most valuable traits a person can have. She was not afraid to stand up for what was right, and she also taught me to love myself. Even from thousands of miles away, I can feel the loss of Jasmim deeply. Our friendship was valuable to me during our shared time at Uplands and my heart aches for her and her family. I have attached a fun picture of the Uplands Climbing Team which she was a valuable member of. Fly high, Jasmim!

Dearest Jazz, you were a joy to teach, always present, curious, interested, smart, warm, smiling. I remember the day clearly when you approached me after class for a chat, we stood in the foyer of the NFS for what was probably an hour, this was when you told me you were really interested in film programming and curation and indeed you had already been one of the young curators for the Dublin International Film Festival’s BeKind Rewind project in 2024. That day was the start of many great conversations between us about film culture and that start of a friendship. You jumped at the chance to co-programme the documentaries at the Catalyst International Film Festival, and I was so lucky to work with you on the programming, you challenged my thinking in the kindest and most open way, you taught me a lot and made me a better programmer. We had plans to keep working together and I am heartbroken and devastated at the loss of you, the loss of all you were going to do, of who you were in the world. I will miss you, the world is a poorer place without you. We will always cherish you in our hearts and will always remember your warm heart and smile. To Esmerelda, Lobos and Luna and all Jasmim’s family and friends, I cannot imagine your loss and pain in the passing of your beloved daughter, sister and friend. Dearest Jasmin, My earliest memory of you at Uplands was a school disco- we chatted over Doc Martin boots and I saw your individuality, creativity and caring nature from that moment on. To have supported you and been a part of your school journey was a pleasure and a privilege. Being your own self was challenging at times- it did not always fit in with some of our other students, but your view of the world was generous and open hearted. Your unique perspective and love for all things creative was a joy to be around and our chats were something I always valued and something I will not forget - along with your smile and positive outlook.
Dearest Esmeralda and family, words can not do justice to losing Jasmin’s light and laughter, just know that if the way she touched my heart is the same for others posting here then she truly lives on in our hearts and memories.

I am devastated to hear the news that Jasmim is no longer with us. She was an incredible individual who I looked forward to seeing everyday when working at Uplands. Jazz taught me so much and I will remember forever those times we shared together. I was so incredibly proud of her, her acheivements and her attitude. Dear Esmeralda, Lobos, and Luna,

Jasmim brought a thoughtful and creative spirit to the world that was unmistakably her own. I always admired the uncommon, idiosyncratic way she saw things, as well as her ambition to turn that perspective into art through filmmaking.

I was very sorry to hear about her passing, and I hope that during this difficult time you can find comfort in your memories of her and in the genuine connections she made with those around her.

Through the undulating pivots of life, the impact is not immediate. Meaningful, vibrant horizons will eventually shine to share nurturing beams of energy and minerals of encouragement.

Jasmim, within her 2021 Y13 DT IA, she eagerly investigated her own chosen topic “Cat entertainment sanctuary capsule,” which blossomed through a fusion of creative research techniques, confident CAD concept modeling, and inventive model-making development. Jasmim demonstrated a robust design foundation to establish calm connections to assist others. (Enclosed are a few images of this project, which encapsulate her adventures of nimble inquiry.)

Hi Jazz,

I hope you're okay wherever you are. I'm so so so sorry I didn't get to see you one more time. I want you to know that I am who I am today because of you. Every interaction I've ever had with you has shaped me as a human. I am so grateful to have shared a portion of my life with you by my side.

Back in Penang, people would always say we were related or sisters. I remember the cafeteria lady thinking we were the same person and then twins. I've never had siblings, but you were the closest thing I've ever had to one. I always and will always admire and look up to you. You were one of the coolest, funnest and most wonderful people I've met, and I am so happy I was able to have you as a close friend. I remember our trips to the cinema, our fro-yos shared, our Spade's burger takeouts (I still have dreams about that place), and so much more. I'm glad I was able to show you around Paris and share a bit of my more recent life with you.

You were one of the reasons I managed to pull through during some very tough times. You will always have a special place in my heart. I will miss you every day, and I promise to accomplish all the things you didn't get to do yet.

You and your family have created some of my happiest memories that I will forever cherish and be thankful for. I wish Esmeralda, Luna and Lobos all the strength in the world through this difficult time.
Just know that you have impacted deeply so many people around you who love and miss you.

Thank you for everything Jazz, I am going to miss you so much, but what matters most is that I got to spend time with you in the first place.

Je n’ai pas de mots assez forts pour exprimer à quel point ta disparition me bouleverse. Le chagrin que je ressens depuis que tu es partie est immense.

On se connaissait depuis près de vingt ans. On a grandi ensemble, comme si nos vies avaient toujours été liées. On était inséparables, presque comme des âmes sœurs. Je repense à nos soirées pyjama, à nos cabanes dans le grenier, aux lettres qu’on s’envoyait, à nos après-midis à inventer des histoires avec nos petshops, à nos fous rires sans fin… et surtout à notre complicité qui ne s’est jamais effacée.

La vie nous a éloignées physiquement à un moment, mais jamais dans le cœur. La distance n’a rien changé à ce que nous étions l’une pour l’autre. Tu a toujours été ma meilleure amie, et tu le resteras pour toujours. Je nous imaginais continuer à avancer côte à côte, partager chaque étape de vie, chaque rêve, voyager, grandir, et vieillir ensemble.

J’admire profondément la personne que tu étais. Tu étais bienveillante, généreuse, et surtout, tu avais la tête remplie de rêves et d’ambition. Tu avais une imagination et une persévérance sans limites.

Désormais, tu vivras à travers toutes les personnes qui t’ont aimées, dans tout ce que tu nous as laissé, dans ce que tu as semé en chacun de nous. Tu seras avec moi partout où j’irai, dans mes souvenirs, dans mes choix, dans les moments où je penserai à toi.

Querida Jasmin, a primeira vez que te vi foi no lobby de um hotel na China. Tinhas dois anos e meio, uma bola de caracóis louros, e apareceste como um furacão em miniatura. Ao longo dos anos e dos reencontros, vi a criança viva e curiosa transformar-se na jovem mulher de agora, forte, talentosa e criativa, divertida, generosa, doce e sensível. Até breve, querida Jasmin, pois sei que te vou reencontrar em todos os sítios onde fomos felizes…

10 years ago when we ventured to Penang Jasmim and her Mum and Dad were one of the first families to extend friendship, one that grew and remained over the years .

Jasmim was a remarkable young lady from the outset, she blossomed as her love of film studies became her passion and she went on study this in our home Country in Dun Laoighre .
A course she immersed herself in and absolutely adored . I have no doubt a very bright career lay ahead .

Jazzy you faced your illness with such courage and that smile of yours was ever present. With unwavering love and support from Esmerelda, Lobos and Luna you fought the hardest of battles .

We are so lucky to have met you all that weekend on Monkey Beach . Jasmim thank you for your friendship with Sinéad helping her settle into life in Penang .

From all the tributes kindness is the constant theme and dear Jazz you are and were the epitome of kindness to all you met .

I still remember walking into my first ever IGCSE Drama class at Uplands, and there you were, Jasmim, so gentle, so committed, and so generous with your creativity and kindness. Your group’s Devised Performance is still one of the most creative pieces I have come across even after 7 years of teaching, and I still use it as an exemplar often. I am so proud of you and privileged to have known you, even if it’s just for a short 3 years. My deepest condolences to the family and may your beautiful soul rest in peace.

We are all saddened to hear of Jasmim's passing, please know you are all in our thoughts. Jasmim is remembered within our school community for her kindness, she had a gentle and caring approach to all she did. Her creative spirit and love of film were evident throughout her time with us and we know she took this passion into her learning beyond school. We were fortunate enough to know her and for her to be a part of our community. I, for one, still remember watching her IBDP film compositions online during those Covid days with such awe at her creativity and dedication.

Jasmim, I am so glad I got to play a part in your story. To this day, I still use your intro film project as an icebreaker — it is so creative and beautiful, and it never fails to move a room. Getting to see you last spring was a gift I didn't know I needed.
I am so proud of everything you accomplished in your short time here, and deeply grateful to have known you.
I heard of your passing just as I was about to watch a movie. The news took the air right out of me. The film was Cactus Pears — you would have loved it.

Some of my best memories in Penang are the times I spent baking and eating with you during covid and they are memories I am so grateful to have.

Por vezes nós debatíamos como tal coisa era pronunciada em português do Brasil, e em português de Portugal - e nos divertíamos muito com algumas bizarrices.

Jazz was one of the best people I've ever had the privilege to meet, let alone be friends with. She was a constant beacon of joy, laughter and creativity, and her talent as a filmmaker was so clear and bright. I will always smile thinking about our times nerding out over documentaries, or archives or even our thesis! Even as she was away in Malaysia getting treatment, we were texting and updating each other about documentaries we watched, the amazing embroidery she was doing and sending each other as many cat pictures as we could find.

She was the best friend I could ask for in so many wonderful ways, and we all loved her and will miss her dearly. My sincere condolences to her family and friends in this extremely difficult time.

Jazz was a wonderful human being, and it was my privilege to meet her in Dublin. She was so warm and welcoming in a time when I knew no one in this city. She had so much passion for her craft and such kindness for the people around her. I wish I could go for another sea swim with her.

Jazz was such a joyful and creative person. She lived with passion, and drive. Everything she set her mind to, she would do and succeed. Her sincere smile, warmth, and witty jokes were comforting.
I will always be grateful to have spent the happiest summers in her company. Our conversations, watching movies, listening and playing music, chilling at the house in Reguengo, our swims in Consolação, and moments spent hunting for all sorts of trinkets are memories I will forever cherish.
She will be remembered every time we find something she liked or might have liked, and it will be painful for some time, but it is also a testament to how much she means to us and the impact she had in our lives.

I had the privilege of knowing Jasmim (Jazz) as a student and a First Year Focus Leader. She was natural born leader, a film maker and a great friend to many. Jazz was the kindest person and she always had a beautiful smile and showed a genuine willingness to help others. Our sincerest condolences to Jasmim's mother Esmeralda, her father Lobos, her sister Luna, and by her extended family and friends in IADT and beyond. She will be deeply missed, but will her smile will always live on in our hearts. Thank you Jazz for the joy you brought into our lives.

I was lucky to meet Jazz when she volunteered to be an international student ambassador. Jazz was very charming and helpful and always so kind to new students. She will be missed terribly by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.

Il n’y a pas de mots qui puissent exprimer le chagrin et le vide que la disparition de Jasmim a laissée en moi.
J’ai rencontré Jasmim quand nous étions en maternelle. Son immense gentillesse, sa créativité sans fin et sa générosité illuminent les souvenirs de mon enfance. J’ai passé presque toute ma vie à l’avoir à mes côtés, et je pensais que nous continuerions à grandir, puis à vieillir ensemble. J’avais hâte de voir la personne qu’elle était en train de devenir. C’est d’une injustice et d’une tristesse sans nom que de devoir continuer la route sans elle.
Je veux croire que, de même que pour toutes les personnes qui l’ont connue et aimée, il existe une part d’elle en moi, et qu’ainsi elle ne disparaîtra jamais tout à fait.
J’espère pouvoir lui rendre hommage à chaque fois que j’aiderai mes amis, que j’accepterai les gens sans les juger, que je rirai, que j’aimerai inconditionnellement ou que je créerai quelque chose de beau.

I wish I had gotten to know Jazz better. She was a bright light and a great classmate to our daughter, Greta, also sadly deceased in her first year IADT. They were and are a brilliant group. Condolences to their surviving classmates who have helped us through our grief, and to Jazz's family and many friends.

I was very lucky to have met Jazz in Penang, where she glowed with her positive spirit , colourful character and big smile, despite her struggles and constant fight towards the end.

She was effortlessly stylish wearing her bright headscarves and full of joy. Selfless, thoughtful, and consciously aware of others, she was a bright spark - so resilient and strong, taken away far too soon.

When I look up at the sky, towards the horizon and into the waves, I will think of Jazz.

​There are no words that can truly bridge the gap you have left traveling away from us. We all - your family, friends, teachers - can bring together so many stories and memories. And many stories there are to tell, just read! They paint a picture of you being an extraordinary, special young woman.

Don't you agree that your life was framed through a lens, quite literally? ​The way you consumed movies, really consumed, as a fan and with a filmmaker’s eye. The way you got lost in the surreal worlds of books, one of your favourites being Murakami. You were so passionate about your projects, always creating, whether you were framing a shot, working on a craft project, or standing in the kitchen as the undisputed best Brioche baker among us.

​Dear Jasmim, we’ll also always admire your "world child" spirit. You knew about cultures and people and landscapes and Oceans. That formed you. That gave you your creative, quirky independence. The quiet, introverted wisdom of yours was a rare gift. But you could also be so funny and brilliantly quick-witted.

When things got hard, you battled with real bravery. You, Esmeralda, Lobos, and Luna fought this together as a single unit, showing so much family strength and bond which is so rare. We have no words for their loss.

We knew Jasmin when she was a beautiful baby girl in Hong Lok Yuen with the smoothest olive skin and curly hair. She loved Disney movies from a young age and we called her Princess Jasmin after a character in a Disney film. Was it Aladdin? She loved cooking and creating. She was always busy drawing, dancing or doing something quirky and fun. She was a real character. Authentic and unique. We loved her and we love her sister Luna, and her adoring supportive parents Esmeralda and Llobos.
Our hearts are heavy with deep sadness. Our world is not as bright now that the shining light of Jasmin no longer graces our lives. She certainly made her mark and impressed all
who knew her. She was a remarkable and most courageous young person.
We send our love to you dear Esmeralda, Llobos and Luna, your extended family and friends at this tender time of grief and loss. Vale Jasmin. Always in our memories and our hearts. Our sons also send their deepest and most sincere sympathies. It should not be thus. 🙏💐❤️

I had the opportunity to know Jazz when she was visiting her parents in Penang. I remember Esmeralda was so excited to have her daughter visit and for all her Penang friends to meet her and get to know her better.
I remember her as creating something beautiful with her hands while she watched us intently dancing to Bollywood. She put a lot of effort and meaning into everything she created, mostly from scratch.

My conversations with her were always so interesting and for someone so young her responses were very deep and thoughtful. She listened so carefully, and you could tell she really understood people.

She had immense resilience , and remained so calm and positive throughout her treatment. Even when she was leaving for Portugal in Oct 2025, she focussed on getting better and enjoying the business class benefits on her flight. She had limitations to what she could eat but yet she never compromised on the quality and taste. She introduced me to Plant A Seed restaurant which has now become one of my favourites in Penang and will always remind me of her.

It’s very hard to accept that she is gone so soon, and I will always treasure the little trinket that hangs on my key chain given by her the last time I saw her on October 28, 2025.

There are no words to ease the pain, but I hope my dearest darling friend Esmeralda can find peace and solace in the love that you shared with Jazz. I hope Lobos can find comfort and strength in the beautiful memories of his daughter, and I hope Luna can find some comfort and calm in all the moments shared and the bond you will always have with Jazz.

Jasmine was without a doubt one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met. I have incredibly fond memories of working alongside her in college, for her professionalism, her kindness, and the endless supply of baked goods. The world is worse off without her, and she will be dearly, dearly missed.

I did not have the opportunity to know Jazz in person, but I came to know her through my daughter's friendship with her. I know she was a beautiful human being, and all the feelings written here confirm that she touched the hearts of many.

I got the pleasure of knowing Jazz in college and she was not only one of the best producers I’ve ever worked with but one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve ever met. Her passion and her ability to make everybody feel comfortable, seen and heard will be truly unmatched. We shared a love for organisation and our excited journaling conversations will be sorely missed.

Jazz was one of the most sweet, lovely and equally determined people I have ever met. She must have fought so hard, as she was a sincerely one of the most passionate people I have known. Jazz was amazing at filmmaking and studio sound. She was always so lovely, nice and hardworking.
A college production of Romeo & Juliet, in which Jazz produced and Laura directed, was one of most cherished college memories. It was such a unique take on the play. There were so many funny and memorable moments.
What Jazz had was not just talent, but genuine passion. She was truly a joy to be around. Her light shined so bright.
It is heartbreaking and hard to believe that someone like her could be lost to the world. And that her time on this earth could be cut short. She will be so dearly missed. She was so special and left such a big impression on everyone who knew her.

We still remember when we first arrived in Penang and you first looked after Lara and Alícia - the girls loved you from Day 1! They immediately adopted you as their big sister and your glasses became our dog’s favourite toy to play with on that day. :)
There are so many more memories… your wonderful handmade trinkets, your delicious macaroons and brioches were so often a highlight for us but more importantly, your kindness, witty humour and your movie recommendations filled the hours whenever our families had the chance to be together. We were rooting for your career as film maker and curator and admiring every step you were taking towards what we are sure would have been a glorious career in film making.
You touched our lives in so many ways and live in our hearts forever. We miss you dearly and love you so much that all your memories are treasures stored safely in our hearts and can never be forgotten. ❤️

Jazz was in the year below my course year, but it felt as if she was part of our course group. She had a great passion for TV/Film, with a strong work ethic of wanting to get things done.

But the most important and best part about her, is that she was able to do that whilst still been very fun, positive, full of personality and enthusiasm, she was able to combine those two together, and that is why people wanted to work with her, she got stuff done whilst keeping a smile, remaining optimistic and hopeful.

I know she’s up there in a much better place, where she’ll continue her passion and love for TV and film. Go raibh míle maith agat Jazz ❤️
