Janet Stoddart

Forever in our thoughts, always in our hearts.

Obituary

Janet Stoddart very sadly and unexpectedly passed away on the 17th September 2025, at the age of 54. Born on May 28, 1971, Janet lived a life full of love, warmth and pure determination.

Those that knew Janet, would know that she was a force to be reckoned with. Janet was known for her very fiery spirit and equally compassionate heart. She somehow seamlessly blended her roles as a loving Wife, Mam, Nanny, Daughter, Sister and dedicated business owner as she passionately built, managed and grew her own property business - PIIM, whilst also caring for her Mam.

Janet had her own special way of lighting up a room, bringing her infectious laugh, energy, brightness and positivity with her, making a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved and inspired, she will be truly missed.

Funeral details have now been updated and are below - all welcome.

As we remember Janet, let us celebrate the remarkable life she led and the profound impact she made on everyone around her.

Please feel free to add photos and share memories of Janet for us to enjoy and remember for many years to come.

Thank you

Absolutely heartbreaking new thinking of all the family at this very sad time.
First met janet while I was in hospital after having sepsis after a open gall bladder removal we became friends after this and helped me to find a home if it wasn't for her me and my family would of been homeless she truly was so caring and a lovely person inside and out

We would go for coffee in the Consett Tesco café every 2-3 weeks, Janet with her Mam, all of us chatting and laughing. When my wife Brenda joined us, we would go for lunch at one of the local pubs always finding someone who knew Janet and would come across to say hello.
We first met Janet and Illya when I started work with Sun Microsystems at Consett in 1999 and later we worked together in Bracknell when the office was moved south. Having an evening meal or Sunday Lunch at their place was a delight both for the food and the company.
After their move back to Consett I was very happy to carry people and packages between their new home in Consett and their extended families’ home in Bracknell as I continued to work in the South. Janet was totally committed to her family despite the distance between the two locations.
Watching Janet build her Property Management Business was very impressive. Janet developed her professional qualifications in tandem with practical experience to offer a well-rounded service that attracted more and more business and financial success.
Janet sat on our sofa with her mother in the week before she went into hospital, talking and laughing with Brenda and myself. And this is how we will remember her, looking after Mary, talking with friends and being a very nice person.
Both Brenda and I were very upset when we heard the terrible news, our sincere condolences to Janet’s family and friends.

This has been shock news. Janet looked after my properties for the past 6 months, she was a breath of fresh air and helped me through a difficult time. It saddens me to hear that she no longer with us. Just a shock and will be a great miss.

Janet managed my properties for the past 3 or 4 years. Since that time we became good friends. She helped my daughter when she was looking to learn to be an agent. Janet was truely a lovely woman who I had the pleasure of knowing. Such a dry sense of humour and just a lovely kind person, whom I will miss very much. Love to all her family x

Met Janet on our first day of school aged 5, we have been friends ever since, lots of lovely memories from our childhood, sleeping over at each other's houses, camping out on the front green of her house and going on shopping trips together. Lately it's been meeting for lunch or at my house for coffee with her mam. Janet truly was the most kind hearted person and always had a smile on her face, we've been friends our whole lives and it's hard to believe I won't see her again. So may lovely memories that will never be forgotten.

I worked for Jan at PiiM for the last 3 years.
I am going to miss the phone call starting with “are you busy “ “ have you got time “? I always found the time and was never a problem. Sometimes the jobs were a challenging and we often laughed about.
We got to know about each other’s lives over this time and how she loves her family and love spending time with them.
Rest in Peace Jan xx

To my best friend, I am in shock the last thing we talked about was you finally having the bugger out, I didn't know this would have been our last conversation, we have been through so much together so where to begin... 26th March 2006 when you approached a very shy... OK maybe not, but I was sitting at a desk with not even a pen and this red headed lady introduced herself " Hi are you OK pet, I'm Janet" and the rest is history, nearly 20 years later ... you gave me the absolute greatest gift as being your friend and allowing me to be part of your family, I will love you forever and always your friend xxxxx

Janet my beautiful bright cousin with the most stunning red curly hair. Last seen at uncle Jack's 80th birthday party. We didnt see much of each other but chatted alot on messenger about family and our careers. We had common interests in the business world. I will always, remember her as an amazing caring daughter and mum, and a very clever business woman. You are going to be so missed Janet. RIP sleep tight. 🙏

I first met Janet when we were 16—nothing but kids really, trying to act older than we were, spending our time drinking and playing pool in the pubs around Consett. She later married my best friend, Illya, when he was just 18, and I had the honour of being best man at their wedding.

I had only been in the RAF a few months when Charlotte, their first child, was born. I remember so clearly visiting Janet in hospital and seeing the pure happiness and love on her face. The same joy was there again when Craig came along too. She was such a devoted mum and a loving wife to Illya.

After her days at school, Janet worked so hard to build a career, achieving excellent roles in tech companies and, more recently, in the housing sector. But no matter how busy life became, she always made time for people.

I’m really going to miss her. When we were kids, we wished we were older. Now, I just wish we could go back to being kids again.
