To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.

Obituary

Janet Rosalie McBean lived a life rooted in faith, guided by compassion, and devoted to loving and caring for others. As the eldest of six children, Janet was a natural leader, protector, and nurturer from the very beginning. Her generous spirit, warm heart, and unwavering commitment to family became the foundation of a life beautifully lived in service to others.

A dedicated nurse, Janet extended her gift of compassion to countless individuals throughout her career, from trauma emergency rooms and travel nursing assignments to caring for children with developmental and complex medical needs. Nursing was more than her profession; it was an expression of her calling to serve.

Janet's love knew no boundaries. She embraced family by birth and by choice, nurturing lifelong friendships and treasured relationships with her godchildren, god-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and generations of loved ones. She was the keeper of family stories, the organizer of celebrations, the enthusiastic traveler, and the loving presence who made sure no one was forgotten. Whether sharing news, creating new experiences, or simply showing up when someone needed her, Janet made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.

A devoted Seventh-day Adventist, Janet loved the Lord and found joy in her faith, her church community, and her involvement with Pathfinders. Her life reflected the beautiful truth that love is not simply spoken but demonstrated through kindness, generosity, and service.

Though Janet leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who loved her, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the family she lovingly gathered, and the seeds of compassion she planted along the way.

Janet's life reminds us that family is built through love, service is an act of faith, and the greatest legacy we leave behind is how deeply we have loved others.
