I'm a friend of Yvonne & Geoff Kirland, we often went out with your mum & dad. Jan & I used to have a good chat as I have had Leukaemia, I was very fond of y our Mum, she was such a gentle lady. I watched the funeral live stream as I only got out of Hospital at lunch time yesterday. It was a lovely service. Yvonne gave me the portal. Hope you didn't mind.Thinking of you all at this hard time. Especially uour Dad.

We gather here today to reflect & recollect upon the passing of our dearest Jan, wife, mother, grandmother and a very dear friend.
I have known Jan in excess of 40 years & my first recollections go back to a day spent water skiing with her & Ron on a river in Western Sydney.
Whilst our relationship was mainly on a professional level our association with her & Ron became like family over the years.
A gentle woman, always with a smile & generous with her time. So protective of her children, so loving & never a complaint.
We all know of the trauma she had to endure with her health. She was so brave, so strong; what an example she set for us to follow.
Now at peace with her suffering behind her, Jan will always be remembered in a special place within our hearts.
We love you Jan & miss you dearly. Until we meet again.

Hi Jan, I will always remember your kindness, warmth and gentle manner, and you didn't mind a good laugh either. A great life long friend to my mum, Annette. The Gibson family always loved your company and your friendship. You always made myself, Mat and Anthony feel so comfortable at your house and we had so much fun running around with Kelly, Dave and Steve. Some great memories picnicing out at Bellingen River. Some pics attached. We will all miss you and will treasure our memories together. Rest in peace Jan. The Gibsons xoxox

My dear dear friend Jano!! Such wonderful memories from the times we shared for over 60 years!!
We were such adventurous, curious and fun loving “girls” in the early 1960s!!
And, I reckon this outlook you carried with you through the many and varied aspects of your life.
In January 1966 - exactly 60 years ago this month, we boarded a ship that took us to England -for 5 weeks on board we had such carefree fun, met lifelong friends and were open to… well almost anything!!
Mid-1966, Jan and I plus 3 other young Aussie girls travelled around Europe for about 4 months in a (very ancient) London taxi - such memories!!
Jan always remained a fun loving, generous, kind friend who always remembered birthdays - at a time we didn’t like to be reminded of how quickly the years were going.
I loved hearing her talk about dear Ron - how happy she was and how wonderfully he cared for her. How proud she was of Stephen, Dave and Kelly and the special times she shared with them and her grandchildren.
Jan had a wonderful life - she brought such joy and happiness to just everyone and will be missed greatly by us all.
Thanks Jano for being one of my oldest and dearest friends.
Toni (Naylor) .. and as she often called me “Toni “Tiges” . .. (now that’s another story!!)

I have not known Jan for long (end of July 2024) although I always felt we had been friends for years.
I actually met “Molly” first as she was chasing a ball to return it to Jan so she could continue the game of “run & fetch”!
I was in my motorhome & Ron had parked theirs nearby & we often met at the Maclean Showground.
Jan was a remarkable, positive & wonderful woman with so many talents.
Her sewing was perfection in every way & her friendship was precious!
I will miss you Jan & will always look for the star that is shining the brightest & know you are smiling down to all of us.
With all my love,
Marilyn
Until we meet again Jan❤️

We met Jan at the Harris residence at Emerald Beach before Kelly was born. We all enjoyed many get togethers, Christmas and birthday celebrations and outings to restaurants every school holidays.
Kath, Jan and I enjoyed many wines together while in the kitchen.
Jan was always the life of the party - became more fun after a few wines!
My very first impression of Jan when I met her was how absolutely elegant she was, always dressed beautifully with perfect hair and jewellery and that never changed.
She took great delight in often taking me shopping “to save money” and couldn’t wait to inform Geoff how much we had saved - omitting how much may be on the credit card though.
Jan was so thoughtful and caring, providing for people who were unwell, visiting and offering support whenever she thought it was needed and turning up with goodies for our grandchildren.
You will not be forgotten my friend you fought a good fight and were lucky to have Ron’s never ending support until the end.
Jan was loved by many and will be greatly missed by us all.

It was 1981. We had just moved into Sapphire Crescent and I was walking up the beach with my little 3 year old red haired daughter. Coming towards me was a lady with a head full of rollers and her 3 year old daughter, another little red head. That was the start of a cherished friendship. I will always be grateful for having you in my life Wal. Rest easy my friend 🧡. Pam.

I have wonderful memories of visiting the Wallis' at their home in Sapphire beach near Pelican Beach Resort. Jan was so kind, loving and welcoming. I don't think I ever saw her without a smile on her face and her laugh was infectious. Rest well dear Jan. Sending love to Ron, Steven, Dave Kel and families xxx

Dear Aunty Jan,
Thankyou for your guidance on those rare times that I spoke to you in recent years. You always advised morals and truth. Thankyou.

Jan was a warrior, an extraordinary person that I honour, whose presence shaped the family that we all are today. Her legacy will always be present, deeply felt in my wife, Kelly, and my daughters, Eliana and Yolanda, gifted with her humour, resilience, attention to detail and optimism in front of life challenges.
She lived with her heart pointed towards her family and the bond she shared with Kelly was truly special: not only mother and daughter, but genuine friends who trusted, laughed, and leaned on each other.
Though she had to go, her love and generosity prevail.

Fun, happy, mischievous brave Jan.
We met the first year of High school, 70 years ago.
We had a great holiday in Panang with Gay, Robyn D and I. Best memory, we met on the beach every afternoon for our yummy Sex on the Beach (cocktail s) 😄 Many laughs.
Jan running up the beach, to shoo the monkeys away from our bags.
Jan loved a bargain, and bought many lovely hand bags ect at the markets.
Each morning she would start by placing each and every purchase on the bed and admire each one. She got such thrill out of them all.
I'm lucky enough to have several of her clever bags she kindly made me, I will always treasure them.
Funny, happy, some times naughty, you will be greatly missed but never forgotten xxx

I’ve known Jan for as long as I can remember. She has been a dear family friend since I was small and I am very blessed to call her daughter Kelly one of my oldest and dearest friends. I will always remember her as one of the warmest, kindest, most sincere and funniest people to be around. A true earth angel with time for everyone. I shared a very special moment with her, Ron, Kelly, Ernesto and the girls at my childhood home last Christmas and I had no idea it would be the last time I would see her. She will be so very missed, but I know Heaven has gained another angel.

Janmar was the only grandma I ever knew, the woman who gave me my first piece of chewing gum. 🤩
She was such a vibrant and funny lady, which escalated after a glass of wine…
Janmar had an extraordinary talent for making bags and sewing, she poured her heart into every bag and would then insist we homed them until it felt like we had at least 2 of each colour. I’m proud to say that Jan’s unwavering courage was admirable to all, she was such a fighter and truly the strongest woman i know. I am so grateful to get to call her my Grandma and I will forever cherish her and my memories with her in my heart. Her bubbly spirit, cheeky humour and famous cornflake and raisin cookies will live on forever.
All my love Janmar, rest easy.
Ellie ❤️

Such a legend was Jan! I was so lucky to know her. The most resilent and unrelentingly positive person I have ever met.
And of course the wicked sense of humour!
She loved to provoke.and get a giggle. One day she took a great thrill in showing me putting pins into her boob. She cackled as she watched my shock and horror. "Oh Gerry", she said "this new boob (prothesis) is a fantastic pin cushion!" 😆
She was a unique and special person who brought so much joy!
My thoughts are with her beloved Ron, Steve, Dave and Kel. Xxx and molly

A farewell to my dear friend Jan,
Jan was a gracious lady—always beautifully dressed, always positive, and always smiling, even when the odds were against her. She carried herself with such quiet strength and grace.
We shared many regular lunches, carefully analysing whether the venue deserved a return visit or not. Ron would simply sit beside us, listening patiently and nodding along, a steady presence to our lively critiques.
Sewing and golf were our greatest common ground. Jan certainly outshone me in sewing, creating the most beautiful bags with remarkable skill. As for golf… well, that’s another story entirely.
Jan will be deeply missed. Her elegance, humour, and friendship will remain treasured always. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, home in heaven. Until we meet again my friend

Jan and Ron have been my beautiful neighbours for 10 years.
Jan would often turn up at my door with a surprise gift which could be a plant, a card, a cake or a beautiful bag or purse she had sewn. She was so generous. Always smiling and joyful no matter what she may be dealing with. She would shrug off her ailment or challenge with a smile and a quip about life and getting old -seemingly unbothered.
Seeing Jan and Ron out walking was always a pleasure. You could see how they absolutely adored each other - an inspiration on love and aging well.
Jan was such a positive delight to have known and I’m so glad to have had her in my life. To have known a woman with such strength, love and determination is a privilege and a blessing.
I will miss you Jan and will remember you always.
Love Rachael.

When I was about 19, I’d take my holidays from work and drive up to Coffs Harbour to stay with Aunty Jan and Uncle Ron. It was so much better than being at home, sun, beach, and that little bit of mischief that always came with Aunty Jan.
Uncle Ron and I were the fit ones, off running on the sand at sunrise, while Aunty Jan… well, she had other priorities. She loved her lollies. I’ll never forget how she’d sneak off with a bag of sweets, hiding them from Uncle Ron like a naughty kid. She’d offer me one with this cheeky grin and a laugh that made everything feel light.
That was Aunty Jan, full of love, laughter, and just the right amount of trouble. I adored her.
