I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Jim. Jim's dedication to his career at SLB for over 30 years, where he held various positions globally, is a testament to his hard work and commitment. Anybody who have been working in D&M business line maintenance would know Jim as a great person. His presence will be sorely missed by his colleagues and friends. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. RIP Jim. With deepest sympathy...

I will remember Jim most for his signature grin and warm personality. We bonded over soccer and goalkeeping, and I always thought so highly of Jim. You could tell just how much positive impact he had on others based on how they reacted to him. Taken away far too soon. I do know it will be a long long time before your impact has faded. Rest in peace, Jim.

What to say that hast been said already. Quite simply one of the good guys. I'll always a remember one of the golf outings at Stonehaven when Jim was playing less than good :-)

What a laugh.

Jim was the personification of TLM and Maintenance values, if you think Maintenance you think of Jim. The calm and sense of humour that Jim had in all situations will be remembered. I have had several interactions and guidance from Jim throughout my SLB journey, I am grateful that I knew Jim and worked with him. My deep condolences to his family and friends, and may his soul rest in peace. Thank you Jim

It still feels unreal that Jim is no longer with us. His passing has left a void that words can hardly fill.

Jim had a remarkable gift for diffusing tension with just the right words and an easy sense of humor that could instantly lift a room. He was unfailingly kind, always looking out for others—supporting, encouraging, and helping them grow.

His office was just across from mine, and I’ll deeply miss the full-throated, animated discussions we shared across the aisle. Working with Jim and tackling problems together was a joy and a privilege.

I will miss you dearly, my friend. But I will forever cherish the memories and the many moments of laughter, insight, and camaraderie we shared.

May God grant strength and comfort to his family, especially his beloved daughters—the apples of his eye—as they navigate this profound loss.

To my big cuz,
Life will simply never quite be the same without you in it. You leave a big hole in our lives and our hearts and we will miss you immensely. Thank you for always looking out for me, for being a comfort and offering a guiding hand when needed. We'll miss your presence at family gatherings but well never forget your smile and big laugh and how you could bring fun and laughter into a room, simply by being there.
I'll miss you always. Rest in peace James xxx

I always remember the day when I first met Jim when arrived in Aberdeen airport, how friendly and generous was Jim. He stood for me whenever required support and to release stress. Jim still took time to listen and guided the way even when he was ill. Missing a good friend, mentor and manager.

Thank you, Jim, for everything and my deepest Condolences to the entire family.

I got to know Jim when I transferred from Houston to Aberdeen in 2018. Jim was my direct manager and he was the coolest manager one could ask for. He always had a mischievous sparkle in his eyes. Once you got to know Jim, you soon realized that jokes and banter aside, he was a very kind and compassionate person who genuinely cared for people. I will forever miss our chats about Aberdeen, family, work, golf and everything in between!
May his soul rest in peace!

Jim my friend, I count myself fortunate that I had the pleasure of working with you in Sakhalin and in Houston. We would always have great discussions on many topics and I always knew the decisions made were better because you were involved. You always joked that during our important meetings I sat next to you so I could kick you under the table in case you were saying something wrong. In reality I just enjoyed your company (and yes sometimes needed to kick you).

Thanks for all the great memories during our travels and of course on the golf course when despite the score we would always have fun, often at the expense of one another. I am sure you are in a better place now with good company, amazing golf and making people’s time just that little bit better.

RIP Jim and thank you for being such a great friend.

Jim was the first person I met when I arrived in Scotland, and he welcomed me with open arms. He believed in me and gave me a chance to grow, both professionally and personally. Throughout the years, he never stopped guiding me—always ready with advice, support, and encouragement. Even during his illness, Jim still made time to listen, to care, and to point me in the right direction.

I will never forget his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support. Thank you, Jim, for everything. My deepest condolences to the entire family.

Throughout my career, you were the mentor who was always there—with clarity, honesty, and unwavering support. In the most challenging times, your guidance was precise, your words uplifting, and your humor a light that reminded us we could face anything.

I can’t recall a single hard moment when your presence didn’t make things better. Thank you for everything, my friend. And for what it's worth—I still owe you that beer on the other side.

Deeply saddened to hear of Jim's demise, a valued colleague and kind and generous person who brightened our workplace. May we find peace and strength in the memories we shared with him. I first met Jim, in Russia circa 2009-2010, and then been in touch since.

Sharing a memory with Jim in this picture, taken when he accompanied me to an Audit to our TLM facility in North- East India, seldom visited due to remoteness. This is us being felicitated as guests by the hosts with the stole gifted to us.

Rest in peace Jim, you are sorely missed!

James was a guy I have not physically seen in years, many years, but I would like to say that James and myself and a few others was so close and great friends in primary school, and early years of secondary school.
When I got told by another great school friend Hamish of the passing of James my heart sank and so many emotions came out and Hamish and myself spoke for some time remembering the great times we had as kids, we were really tight as friends growing up in Cruden Bay.
Please see a pic of our tight group in 1981

In Memory of Jim Robertson

I first met Jim Robertson in 2007, when I was cross-training into D&M. He was my instructor at the Sugar Land Learning Center. Jim had a way of making difficult things simple, serious moments lighter, and complex systems feel manageable — always with his quiet confidence and that perfectly dry Scottish humor that stayed with you long after class ended.

In 2015, when I returned to D&M after some time away, Jim was the D&M Maintenance Manager for NGC in Lafayette. He gave me a warm welcome, walked me through the base, and reminded me once again how calm, capable, and grounded he was — no matter the pressure.

From 2018 through early 2023, Jim and I worked together in D&M TLM HQ — and those years included some of the most challenging times any of us have lived through. Through the uncertainty and isolation of COVID, Jim was an anchor. I could always come to him for advice, no matter how difficult the situation. He would listen, reflect, and respond with clarity, kindness, and unwavering reliability. You could count on him — always.

Together we traveled the world: to maintenance bases across North and South America, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. In every country, on every team, Jim made people feel supported. He didn’t lead with volume — he led with depth. He brought knowledge, humor, and a quiet strength that made the people around him better.

Jim was also proudly Scottish. He carried that pride with grace — in the way he spoke, worked, and stood firm in what mattered. He was a colleague, a companion, and, in many ways, the heart of the team.

To Jim’s parents, daughters, his family, and all who loved him — please know how deeply respected and valued he was by his colleagues across the globe. His wisdom, humor, and steady presence are already missed — and will be for a long time.

Thank you, Jim. For everything. It was an honor to walk alongside you.

I was working with Jim hand in hand for the past 3 years. He was one of the few people in my whole life with whom I can communicate without a single word, just by eyes and signs.

His sense of humor was fantastic, and I was enjoying the times we were making fine-spun jokes!

I am proud that I was working with him and inherit his vision, broad mindset and ambitions, which will stay with me forever. I hope, that as a friend I gave him as much support as possible.

Jim! Be happy and peaceful wherever you are...

Jim was not just a manager during our time in Sakhalin; he was a mentor and a friend. Jim had a unique way of pushing me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to work with tools rather than just sit in front of a computer.

His sense of humor was unmatched; every promotion we had a call - "Hola. Got a real job now?". When Jim was assigned as the TLM manager, he called me and asked, "Do you know who the new TLM manager will be?" Without missing a beat, I hit him, "Got a real job now?"

Our outings to Indian restaurants, where he would order the spiciest food for me and laugh as I struggled, are moments I will never forget.

Jim was a fantastic person with immense intellect and a heart full of kindness. I am deeply sorry for the family's loss.

Jim was always available for a laugh and a round (golf, pints, or both) but much more importantly was always someone you could trust. In a world that could so easily be driven by self-preservation, he was always willing to freely share his thoughts or help you work through an idea while it was only halfway formed. Every room was better for having him in it.

I am very proud to have called Jim a friend, and he will be sorely missed.
