Jaimee Hennefer Hoke

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a memory is priceless.
We are looking for both pictures and memories of our Jaimee.  It would mean the world to us if you would take the time to add yours here.

I remember once when i was younger me and aubree were jumping on the trampoline in the snow, but i kept falling so i was so cold. Then when i walked inside after i got the snow off aunt jaimee came over with some hot cocoa and cookies and a blanket so i could warm myself up.

I remember playing basketball as a kid with Cade. We must’ve been about 6 years old. We took turns jumping off the retaining wall next to the hoop and dunking. I held on to the rim a little too long and slipped off, falling flat on my back on the asphalt. I got the wind knocked out of me and couldn’t breathe. We ran inside, and Jaimee calmed me down and held me. She took care of me like any good mother would. I wasn’t her son, but she always treated me like one. I will miss her so much!

Our family was blessed to raise our kids together when you all lived in Avonworth. From the baseball field to the basketball courts to sharing kids in each other’s homes, those were some of the best memories of my life. Jaimee was always so kind and giving and selfless-she was truly one of the best people I’ve ever known. One big memory sticks out-when we were having work done on our house and needed to be out of it for a few days while they did the floors, she refused to let us stay in a hotel. She told me that since your family would be in Dallas for the Super Bowl, we would stay at your house, graciously opening your home to our family. I’m so grateful for the time we had with her, and all of you.

Jaimee was one of the first people I met when I moved to Pittsburgh almost 20 years ago. A few years later we were both pregnant and due within a week of each other. I was super sick so Jaimee came and took my older kids to Chuck E. Cheese while I stayed home on the couch. We both worried our boys would be gigantic and when Jaimee had her son and he was well over ten pounds we were all impressed. Then a week later I delivered my son at 9lb, 14 oz and it just didn’t seem that impressive anymore. 😂

Soon after that we started training for our first triathlon together. Jaimee was the most fit person I’d ever met and all I wanted was to keep up with her. I’m pretty sure she won the race. I was always so impressed with her discipline and her ability to push herself so hard.

This picture was taken in October, when cancer had overtaken Jaimee’s body, yet she still came on hikes with us with a big smile on her face and a positive attitude. She never complained about the pain she was in. She was superwoman.

I will miss our walks, our paddleboarding adventures, and our chats about the kids. ❤️💔
