Obituary
Jae On Lee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, passed away on November 23, 2025 at the age of 81.
Born on July 14, 1944 in Jeong-Up, South Korea, Jae On was the first of eight children and grew up in Damyang, Kwangju, and Seoul before immigrating to the U.S. in 1980.
He excelled academically and athletically in high school, eventually earning a Bachelor's degree in Mining at Inha University.
In 1969, Jae On married Young Ja Lee, with whom he shared 56 years of commitment and devotion, raising two children, Hyun and Doyoon (Tina). They became grandparents to Talya in 2010 and Emma in 2014.
Professionally, Jae On Lee joined the leadership teams of Korea Shipping and Yulsan Shipping Companies while in Korea. After immigrating to America, he became a resilient entrepreneur, starting and building various small businesses that served his local communities. He also dedicated his time to connecting with his high school and college alumni associations, leaving a positive impact on those communities.
Jae On had a passion for golf and young people, often spending weekends golfing with his wife and friends and volunteer driving for Korean international students in Atlanta.
Jae On is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and seven siblings.
A virtual memorial service will be held on December 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM.

이재온 씨는 사랑하는 남편이자 아버지, 할아버지로서 2025년 11월 23일, 향년 81세로 별세하였습니다.
1944년 7월 14일 대한민국 정읍에서 태어난 그는 여덟 형제자매 중 장남으로, 담양과 광주, 서울에서 성장한 후 1980년 미국으로 이주하였습니다.
그는 광주제일고등학교를 거쳐 인하대학교에 진학하였고 광산학 학사 학위를 취득했습니다.
1969년, 그는 이영자와 결혼하여 56년간 변함없는 헌신과 사랑을 나누었고, 미국에서 두 자녀 현정과 도윤(Tina)을 키웠습니다. 이후 2010년에는 Talya, 2014년에는 Emma의 조부모가 되었습니다.
한국에서 그는 한국해운과 율산해운의 경영진으로 활동했으며, 미국에서는 여러 소규모 사업을 시작하고 발전시키며 지역사회에 기여한 강인한 기업가였습니다. 또한 모교 고등학교와 대학 동문회 활동에 꾸준히 참여하여 많은 이들에게 긍정적인 영향을 남겼습니다.
그는 골프와 젊은이를 사랑했으며, 주말이면 아내와 친구들과함께 골프를 즐기고 한국에서 단기간 유학온 젊은 학생들을 위해 자원봉사 운전을 하기도 했습니다.
고인은 아내와 자녀, 손주들, 그리고 일곱 형제자매를 남기고 떠났습니다.
온라인 추모 예배는 미국 동부 사간으로 2025년 12월 19일 오후 7시에 진행될 예정입니다.
