In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.

Obituary

Jacob T. Jacob, who brightened the lives of many with his kindness, charisma, and infectious love for life, passed away on September 12, 2025.

Jacob's life was one of dedication, laughter, and love, which he generously shared with family, friends, and colleagues.

Handsome and full of charm, Jacob was not only a remarkable presence but also a loving husband to his devoted wife, Suparna. Together, they built a life rooted in love and mutual respect, creating a supportive environment for their two children, who were the pride and joy of his life. Jacob was an extraordinary father, always ready with a listening ear, a word of wisdom, or a warm embrace.

As a boss, Jacob was both admired and cherished, earning the respect and loyalty of those who worked alongside him. His passion for work was matched only by his dedication to fostering growth and opportunity for his colleagues, guiding them with a fair but firm hand and an ever-present smile.

A cricketer, Jacob carried his love for the sport throughout his life, sharing memorable evenings with friends and family gathered around to watch matches. Jacob's passion for music was well-known, often filling his home with the melodies and rhythms of his favorite songs. Music was a source of solace and joy for him, especially in his later years.

Despite his battle with PSP, Jacob faced life's challenges with unwavering courage and grace. His strength of spirit and determination remained an inspiration to all who knew him. He navigated the complexities of his illness with dignity, exemplifying resilience and reminding those who loved him of the importance of courage in the face of adversity.

Jacob leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and integrity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his gentle yet profound spirit. As we remember Jacob, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the indelible mark he left upon our hearts.

My heart is full. Jacob will forever remain in our hearts! I have such fond memories of him through our interactions and association with him. He was a gentle soul, pleasant, charming and so handsome, always greeting with a broad and sweet smile on his face. He was full of warmth and generosity- can't forget what a wonderful host he was to us in Singapore. He was fun loving and had a zest for life for sure. I also think that he was an optimist with a positive mindset. Perhaps that is why he braved the challenge of psp so well.

Suparna stood by him like a rock. No words!! Can only say that she made it possible for him, at this daunting time, to lead a life that was as normal as was possible. It was because of the deep love they shared and the long association they had. My heart goes out to her at this moment.

I was extremely lucky to meet Jacob two months back, I think God willed it.

I'm sure he is in a peaceful and blissful place.

I downloaded my WhatsApp history with Papa, and the earliest conversation I found was from October 2016:

Papa: I bought iPhone 7 for you. Color rose gold.
Me: OMG YAY. HOW DID YOU KNOW I WANTED THAT COLOR
Papa: I guessed that color is what you would like.

That was just the kind of dad Papa was. At work, he might have been intimidating, but at home, he was the quintessential “Girl Dad.” When Tani and I were little, he would put on puppet shows with socks and toys, and they were the most magical, entertaining things for us. He was our “Swiss Army knife” — someone who always had answers, fixes, and solutions to everything. He loved his life, his work, cricket, music, whiskey, and inappropriate jokes.

I take pride in the fact that I look like him, and I can only hope that some of his many amazing qualities continue to guide me in my own life.

Papa will always be remembered for his zest for life. He had so much more life left to live, and so much more of my life to see. But I will forever cherish the 30 years I got to spend with him, and I will miss him every single day.

There are truly no words to express the sad feelings of Jacob's untimely passing. When Jacob joined HP in India, we were part of a small, close-knit team — more like a family than just colleagues. Over time, we found ourselves as part of different groups and Jacob moved to another floor but the bond he shared with us remained as he made sure to visit us by way of MBWA. Jacob was full of life, with great sense of humour, and infectious energy. He was not only an incredible human being, but also a devoted family person and an inspiring Leader. His presence will be deeply missed, but he will remain in our thoughts & prayers forever.

My connection with Jacob was through his wife Suparna, a close friend and colleague. Initially we met at official get-togethers but later we met socially both in India and Singapore. Jacob made an immediate impression. Though he was a very handsome man, he was not vain (which is unusual!) and had an extremely affable manner, which made him both very likeable and easy to get on with. His life revolved around his family, his work, sports and music. He was totally a wysiwyg person, in the nicest possible way.
It is hard to comprehend why a person like Jacob had to go through so much suffering. And he faced that too with tremendous courage and dignity, supported at every step by his wonderful family. I have not seen a more dedicated and caring wife, companion and care-giver, than Suparna has been in the last six years. Their daughters too were around to provide support whenever they were needed. My heart and thoughts are with all of them and I hope they provide each other the strength to get through this time of great loss.

Jacob has always been a great hearted person with passion on his work that inspired others like me to strive for quality work without pressure. He had always treated others with respect. To me, he has always been a big brother. We had an easy good catch up during dinner in KL where he was here for meetings and I was pleasantly surprised that he made time for the dinner despite his busy schedule. Will miss you, Jacob

I was one of those who worked closely with Jacob around 2.5 decades back and we then went on to become good friends. I remember Jacob as someone who was always fair, open and transparent in his interactions. Never thought ill of anyone and always willing to help. He left us too early!! RIP Dear Jacob,

I recall those days at HPI Printing category. Alongwith the Marketing team we have worked together for NPIs across cities. One of the finest leader. A very cheerful, enthusiastic person and highly quality oriented.
He ensured to compliment and recognise his team's work during NPIs especially - I remember.

I'm sure you would be celebrating life there too on the higher planes Jacob!
With fond memories ever.

I fondly remember Jacob from my days in IMT. He was more of a friend than a senior. We bonded over our passion and love for cricket. He was a great sport on and off the field. I will cherish the times we spent together. Condolences and strength to Suparna and the kids.

My prayers for the departed soul and also to his family.

I interacted with him on alumni initiatives in the early years of alumni operations and he was always very supportive, gave lots to inputs, each time exhibiting his passion for IMT. He was conferred with Distinguished Alumni Award in 2019.

I pray for his family, may God be with them to carry forward the legacy he has left behind.

When I joined PCL in 1986, Jacob was already there and we connected (well, reconnected in a way as we had some common friends from college). Always a good smiling, caring friend. As a colleague we went for many client calls, riding our bikes together.
Deeply saddened by his passing but will always be remembered. RIP Jackie 🙏

Jacob is a great sport. Always enjoyed a good party. Last Diwali too, he wholeheartedly participated in card games and we all enjoyed a good time together, despite his PSP. Thats how much of a good sport he is. He would always smile and acknowledge everyone who greeted him. You are a fighter and an inspiration

First year of college during my initial days, one evening outside the mess, a tall and lanky guy with a cup of tea in his hand approached me and started talking. He was a senior and I was scared of ragging...he was very thin but sort of good looking I thought...friendly and easy to talk with. Soon we started timing our entry into the mess so that we "accidentally" run into each other. And then all evenings were spent together over tea and dinner, and with our annoying friends who wouldn't leave us alone. He started calling me "Suppi" ...no one ever called me that and I loved it.
As we built our life together I found so much to love about Jacob - his simplicity and genuineness, his love for routine, predictability, sense of commitment, generosity and gentleness... while being fun and naughty, his love for the outdoors and activity, being always on the move...there was never a dull moment with him. The best thing about Jacob was that he had no patience in a fight...he had to make up fast and move on. Our fights were short and hardly of consequence...almost a joke.

Much has been said about Jacob by his friends and colleagues. It's heart-warming to read the stories and know more about him, about many lasting friendships and the place he made in everyone's hearts.

Jacob was my love and I wouldn't remember him any other way. The last 6 years were harsh on us yet the time before that made up for it, and more.
He will live in my heart and with me, everyday.

Ever loving,
Suppi

Jacob,
It’s hard to believe you’re gone. Your presence brought warmth and kindness into the lives of those who knew you, and your absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled. We'll always hold close the memories we shared, and I’ll carry your spirit with me in the way I live, love, and remember. Rest peacefully, my friend—you are deeply missed.

We remember Jacob as a smart, warm, and endlessly charismatic friend — always with that unmistakable glint of mischief in his eyes. From lively gatherings at Varsity Park and elsewhere, to chance meetings at Labrador Park while he, Suparna, and Jaz enjoyed their walks, Jacob’s presence was always full of kindness and quiet strength.

He had a gift for making people feel at ease, for filling every space with laughter and light.

In his final years, we were deeply moved by the unwavering love and care Suparna gave him — a remarkable partnership filled with dignity, courage, and devotion.

We are grateful to have shared those moments with him and will always cherish his warmth and friendship.

With love and fond remembrance, Rest in Peace Jacob!!!

My dear brother’s life, though far too short, was filled with warmth and joy. He had a heart that was affectionate and generous, always ready to care for others and bring a smile to those around him. He lived with enthusiasm, finding fun in every moment and encouraging others to do the same. I always admired his sharp mind and his determination. He was a true go-getter, someone who set his sights on a goal and pursued it with conviction.

Even as he faced the difficult battle with PSP, he carried himself with courage and grace. His strength in those moments was an inspiration, a reflection of the resilience and dignity with which he lived his life.

Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit remains stitched into the fabric of our lives. I will always hold close the memories of our time together and the many ways he enriched my life. His legacy is one of kindness, energy, and brilliance, and he will live on forever in our hearts.

Was so sad to hear this news and Jacob you were too young to go away. Always seen Jacob as a family man a very loving husband and father.
Suparna can’t admire you enough for your unwavering support and dignified approach throughout both children's weddings and beyond; you have been a constant source of strength to Jacob and I will always cherish our friendship and the valuable lessons I've learned from you in navigating life's challenges.
Jacob was incredibly lucky to have chosen you as his life partner.

I worked with Jacob in APJ, but it was during my short WW stint supporting the region that I really got to work closer with him. As one of my product stakeholders, he was extra supportive and encouraging, constantly looking out for me. Jacob truly was a kind and a genuine presence, with the special APJ bond. I’ll always remember how much that meant. Rest well, Jacob!

I first met Jacob when I was visiting HP India, and I was instantly taken by his warmth, kindness, and quiet strength. Later, working with him in Singapore only deepened my admiration, he was endlessly supportive, wise, and so generous with his time.

The last time I saw him was over dinner in 2019. Even though he wasn’t well, he was still the same Jacob I had always known: full of warmth, enthusiasm, and that wonderful ability to make everyone around him feel valued.

I’m deeply saddened by this news. Jacob was one of a kind, and I will always treasure the memories and guidance he shared so freely. May he rest in peace, and may his kindness continue to live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know him.

If the quality of life is determined by attitude
and a mans character is summed by his fortitude
if the iron exterior hides a heart full of compassion
and yet true to himself even when not in fashion
If the only goal each day is to be the best he can
and behind every action there is a plan
if even tempered consistency shows up every day
and his courtesy extends to friends and foes the same way
If you are blessed by life and yet not fall prey
and ego nor unwarranted pride hold sway
If your deeds do all the talking for you
and to family and love you remain steadfast and true
If your smile is pure light and brings joy to all
and your words bring solace and and make us stand tall
and though its sad that you had to ascend
Jacob, you live on in all our hearts my friend

One of my first encounters with Jacob was like many others, through hp in the late 90s. What stuck out about Jacob was his genuine interest in the people around him. Taking the time to truly listen and take an active interest in what mattered to others. What mattered to me. I remember thinking to myself - wow - he's still asking questions. He's gone beyond the point of politness...he must really care - he must really mean what he says. This has remained true for the decades that followed. I admired him for this - and for many other reasons. Our loss, but Heaven has received an MVP.
