Jack R Baker

Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jack Ryan Baker on April 5th, 2025. Jack was born on March 28th, 1997 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Glen Baker and Teresa Baker. He was a graduate of Viera High School in Viera, Florida where he excelled in varsity lacrosse and JROTC. Jack lived with his family in Washington, Florida, Texas, Alabama and Virginia where he built many lasting friendships. He loved travel off the beaten path and embraced cultures, friends and adventure in his own way whether sparring Muay Thai in Chiang Mai or proposing to his wife, Shaneese (Nash) Baker, on bended knee in Reykjavik. Jack was a graduate of the Diver’s Institute of Technology in Seattle and was a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico and Chesapeake Bay. He also worked on his Alaskan family’s commercial fishing boat as a fisherman on the Bering sea and off the coast of Sitka. He volunteered to serve with the People’s Protection Unit fighting alongside the Kurdish army against ISIS in Syria at the age of 20. His love of country and family extended to his everyday life where family farms in Montana, Pennsylvania and Virginia always welcomed him around a bonfire or among the many projects he pursued from building chicken proof fences and fixing tractors to making his signature blackberry wine. Jack's love of hunting brought him to many predawn tree stands and after four hunting seasons he finally harvested his trophy 8 point buck this past December in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include Jack’s wife Nash Baker, mother Teresa Baker, father Glen Baker/stepmom Amy Kay, sisters Rumor (Matt), Dakota, and Destinee (Chip) along with his beloved nieces and nephews- Kayleigh, Peyton, Noah, Wyatt and Warren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) or a local charity/organization of choice in Jack’s honor. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Friday, April 18th at 1pm in Virginia Beach at 1057 Princess Anne Road, 23457. For more information please reach out to Glen Baker (docbaker_18@hotmail.com)
