Obituary

Sir. Chief Joseph Olaseinde Williams, 84, of Elegbeta Olowogbowo,  left us peacefully on the 3rd of August, 2024. Born on July 27, 1940, Olaseinde dedicated his life to education, excellence, and service to others.

After completing his primary and secondary education, Chief Olaseinde embarked on an academic journey that took him to Tottenham Technical College in London from 1961 to 1964. His commitment to his studies led him to become a Fellow of Commercial Accountancy (F. COMM A.) at the City of London College in 1970. He further distinguished himself by becoming an Associate of Certified Accountants (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria in 1972. His relentless pursuit of excellence culminated in 1980 when he earned the esteemed title of Fellow Chartered Accountant (F.C.A) from both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), London.

Beyond his professional achievements, and there are many! Chief Olaseinde was a man of deep faith and compassion. A memorial service will be held on the 4th of October at Olowogbowo Methodist Church, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable life and the lasting impact he made on everyone he encountered.

He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.

Dear Chief Williams Family,
CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
It is with great sadness that our family learned about the passing of our Dear Father, Grand Father, and Father-in-Law; Sir Chief Joseph Olaseinde Williams on August 3, 2024. We are deeply saddened not only by the loss of our best friend, but also by our loneliness; our fears; and our uncertainties. But as we mourn this irreparable loss, we are mindful that after every sunset, there is a new day. Therefore, we want to assure you that by His grace, we shall turn our fear into faith, our sorrow into joy, our loneliness into Divine companionship, and reach out to God, our ‘Divine Comforter.’ Please accept our heartfelt prayerful condolences.
In his letter to the Philippians, Saint Paul writes: ‘For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.’ In other words, to live is to serve the Lord and to die is to be with the Lord.’ Throughout his lifetime, Papa Williams faithfully served the Lord; and now he is with the Lord. Papa Williams, we thank you for your unwavering love and dedication to the Wesley Church, Olowogbowo, and your immediate community in Ogba, Ikeja, where you lived a full life, and literally touched thousands of life. As a legacy, you loved bringing happiness, joy, and comfort to everyone in good times and in bad times with your kindness, caring and compassionate heart.
Today and always, we are not saying ‘goodbye’ to you our beloved Papa Williams, but we are saying ‘farewell until we meet again’ in God’s eternal Heavenly Kingdom. Papa Williams, you will always be with us forever and ever. You are in our hearts; our thoughts; and our prayers. You always have been, and you always will be.
May the Holy Spirit comfort our families and give us strength. May God illuminate your eternal soul and may you ‘dwell in the house of the Lord forever, Amen’
Yours in Christ Jesus,

Elder A. R. Mumuni
