Isobel Wilson-Gilmour Sampson

To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Isobel Wilson-Gilmour Sampson, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Isobel was born on Monday 2nd August 1948 in Moodiesburn, Glasgow and passed away on Wednesday 22nd April 2026 in Saint Francis Hospice, Havering-Atte-Bower, Romford, England.
Her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by love, gratitude and admiration. Her final days highlighted the resilience, strength and compassion that she exhibited throughout her life. Family, friends, neighbours and colleagues alike would commend her loyalty, glamour, pride and work ethic.
She had a passion for bargain-hunting, drinking wine, hosting social events, but most of all- for helping others. We know that she would've wanted us all to enjoy the finer things in life, and remember her for her authenticity.
We love you Mum/Nan/Izzy, may you rest in perfect peace with your soulmate and loved ones.

Thank you so much for your Love & support always, such a beautiful soul inside & out, so Glamorous, classy, passionate, dedicated, & always caring, not forgetting how you always said things as they were.
I’ll forever be so lucky & blessed to have met you.
Sleep tight Beautiful Isobel, Love Tara & the Ivey Family xxxxxx
We will always remember how, when we first moved in as neighbours, she was the first to welcome us, offering guidance and support in what felt like a new and unfamiliar world. She never forgot to ask about us—especially the children—and always made us feel cared for. We felt comforted knowing we had someone like her and her family beside us.
We are truly grateful and feel so lucky to have such wonderful neighbours.

From the first time I met you I thought you were so glamorous, very pretty eyes, perfect make up and not a hair out of place! You were such a character and your Scottish accent just added to the charm ❤️
We have some really fond memories of the time we spent with you and Ern over the years. You were a great couple.
I will always remember our little Christmas market trip, you, Mum, me and Erica.
It was like we had two naughty girls with us, especially when we lost you two - me and Erica were going round the markets in the rain and we finally found you two, tucked up on a corner table in a little pub, keeping warm, “sod walking about in the cold” while we had got soaked.
Loved our Christmas celebrations together, you always made a point of letting us know we had put on a lovely spread - you loved that.
I loved your wicked sense of humour too - always with a cheeky little wink.
Know you will be so happy to be back with Ern 💙 but I sure will miss you Iz.
Our love, always xxxx

When we bought our house 25 years ago, Izzy and Ernie were among the first people we met. They made us feel so welcome straight away truly the loveliest neighbours anyone could ask for. Izzy watched my three children grow up, always with kindness and warmth.
One memory that has always stayed with me was a snowy day when she knocked on the door and offered to look after my youngest so I didn’t have to take them out in the cold for the school run. It was such a simple gesture, but it meant so much, and it says everything about the kind of person she was.
There were so many happy times too street parties, Christmas gatherings, and plenty of laughter. I remember sitting in Izzy’s house with a glass of rosé, chatting away, suddenly realising just how loud it must be in our house when I could hear my kids shouting from home! But Izzy would always smile and say, “Oh no, we don’t hear you!”
We will miss Izzy her presence, her kindness, and the warmth she brought to our lives. But there is comfort in knowing she is reunited with her Ernie now.
Sending love and thoughts to all who knew her 🤍
Only a woman born in Glasgow would have her own traffic cone for outside her home in London and I know she loved that statue in Glasgow of the Duke of Wellington on his horse because the students would always put a cone on his head and she had her picture taken with Erica at it with our daughter Victoria and our niece Carmyn. It was therefore very fitting that she had her own traffic cone and it is a great memory we have of a great woman.

I enjoyed all the laughs and bottles of wine we shared sitting in the garden when the girls were growing up and putting the world to rights.
You were a glamorous beautiful soul and will be truly missed by your family and friends. Hope you are having a ball with Erm. Sleep peacefully my friend and god bless you xxxx
