Obituary
Hyacinth Marlene Darien, born on June 12, 1947, in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, passed away on August 12, 2024, at the age of 77. A beacon of kindness and grace, Hyacinth touched the hearts of all who knew her with her generosity, elegance, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Hyacinth shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Eric Martin, who affectionately called her “Mar”. Eric and Marlene raised four girls, Donna, Andrea, Rachelle and Sherill, each of whom carry the values and warmth instilled by their mother. A devoted homemaker and skilled secretary, Hyacinth balanced her professional responsibilities with her passion for creating a welcoming and beautifully decorated home. Marlene leaves behind her older sister Winifred, her daughters, sons-in-law Robin, Rez and Daniel, 5 grandchildren Kaif, Zhuri, Leah, Zy-Anne and Caleb, nieces and nephews Robert, Natasha, Nathania and Tierra and grand nephews and nieces and a host of friends plus the worldwide family of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Known for her stylish and classy demeanor, Hyacinth's true beauty shone through her selflessness and commitment to looking out for the welfare of others. Her compassionate nature drew people to her, and she never hesitated to lend a helping hand or was often a mother to many others, whether through physical support or by offering comforting words to those in need. Her dedication extended beyond her immediate circle, as she was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness who spent countless hours sharing her faith and uplifting spirits through her witnessing efforts.
Marlene leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. As we remember Hyacinth, let us celebrate a life lived with purpose, style, and a heart full of compassion. May her memory be a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew her.

From the time 5 single girls; known as the girks at 90, moved to Harbour View, the Darien Family became our family and our family theirs..
Those were wonderful years for me and when I got married and moved away we kept in touch from time to time snd until this day the love for the family has never diminished.
Mar, Maria was such a beautiful woman, inside and outside and my heart is in pain at her passing.
The resurrect hope is a wonderful provision from Jehovah and I know that she is alive in Jehovah's memory so with confidence, I can say: LONG LIVE MAR, MARiA!
Soon we will all shout: LIFE WITHOUT END! ;AT LAST!!
We met at work, she was a joy to work with, I remember teasing her all the time and she would be laughing. I have missed her. Rest well Ms. D.
RIP Mrs D.
Sleep in peace Mar!💜
I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Darien at a Pensioners Luncheon hosted by Petrojam Limited Pension Plan in March 2023. I had interacted with her prior but was meeting her for the first time.
I remember her very kind words and her pleasant disposition. May her soul Rest in Peace.
Kind Regards,
Colinnette

Marlene was devoted to her family; but above all, she Loved Jehovah God, and showed his Love Preaching, Teaching others to draw close to him.
I await the future resurrection to see her beautiful face, and the joy of embracing her forever in Paradise.. John 5:28,29
