Obituary
In Loving Memory of Henry Santillan
Henry Santillan, 67, of Modesto, California, passed away on June 26, 2026, in Modesto, California.
Born on January 2, 1959, in Fresno, California, Henry lived life on his own terms. Fiercely independent and never one to shy away from hard work, he believed in standing on his own two feet and providing for the people he loved. A professional painter by trade, Henry found dignity in honest work, taking pride in transforming houses into homes through the work of his hands. He believed that anything worth having was worth working for, and that philosophy guided him throughout his life.
Henry believed a person's character was built through hard work, perseverance, and the willingness to keep moving forward, no matter what life placed in front of them. Those who knew him admired his determination, his athleticism, and his competitive spirit. Whether on the job or in everyday life, he approached challenges with grit and resolve. When Henry set his mind to something, there was very little that could stand in his way.
Proud of his Mexican heritage, Henry carried with him a deep appreciation for family and resilience. Like so many lives, his journey was not without hardship. He was strong-willed and steadfast, qualities that helped him endure difficult seasons and shaped the man he became. Beneath his tough exterior was someone who loved deeply in his own way and whose greatest desire was to stay connected to his family.
Above all else, Henry was a father. His life left an imprint on those who knew and loved him. His work ethic, determination, and perseverance became part of the foundation upon which his family built their own lives. His greatest legacy is not found in what he built with his hands, but in the strength his family found through him.
Henry is survived by his daughters, Frances Santillan, Monamarie Alvarado, Corrine Cruz, Jessica Salazar, and Roselynn Santillan; his sons-in-law, Jamie Barocio, Alfonso Alvarado, and Reynaldo Cruz; his beloved grandchildren, Gracie Figueroa, Richard Figueroa II, Alfonso Alvarado Jr., Alexis Alvarado, Reynaldo Cruz II, and Orlando Cruz; his sister, Nancy Santillan; his nephews, Steve Garcia and Bernie Brown; and his nieces, Christina Anguiano, and Ashley Brown.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernardo Santillan; his mother, Frances Nunes-Santillan; his sister, Jennie Santillan; and his brother-in-law, Steven Garcia.
Henry's life reminds us that our stories are not defined by our hardest chapters, but by the strength we leave behind. His children and grandchildren are living proof that resilience, determination, and perseverance can become a family's greatest inheritance.
Henry leaves behind more than memories—he leaves behind a legacy. His story did not end with him. It lives on in the daughters who inherited his determination, in the grandchildren who carry pieces of his spirit, and in every generation that carries forward the resilience, strength, and perseverance that defined his life.
The Santillan family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. They invite all who knew and loved Henry to join them in celebrating a life defined by hard work, enduring strength, and an unwavering love for family.
His story did not end with him. It lives on in every generation that carries forward his strength, determination, and unwavering resilience.
